Dav's Hope ?

I'm presently orbiting the correct planet body- Hyades Sector DR-V C2-23 A5 for Dav's Hope, how exaclty do I find the abandoned mining site ? Where do I imput the co-ordinates ? Do I land on the planetary body first and then imput co-ordinates from the SRV ?

If only we could input coordinates and navigate to them. Been requested numerous times. Maybe one day this will be added...

In the meantime for persistent sites, as stated, map the planet and you can select from the nag panel.

Assuming you have yet ever been there, you have two choices. The first is old and antiquated system in which one utilize coordinates. The second is new! Utilizing the new DSS which sends probes down to the planet or moon is considerably easier and faster.

After probing a surface, wait a minute or so an check in your contents menu, you will see a listing for Dav's Hope. Target it and you'll see a vector some where down on the surface. IF it's solid, target it and start your decent process. If it is broken, it's on the other side of the planet. Stay in orbit and head for the other side. Once the dotted or broken vector is solid, start your decent.

I'm doing something wrong, see the pics below; am at the right place. See my NAV panel.I have a Detailed Surface Scanner onboard but can't figure out how to fire a probe.

Edit; do I need to do this from Supercruise ?

I think its gone, nerfed. I scan the planet TWICE and nothing came up. I had a bookmark on the place and it is not recognized anymore.

Boy I sure hope you're wrong, all the trouble it took to get here ( most jumps I've done so far @ 37. I realize this is basically a walk arou d the block to most here. I'm sleeping in the ship tonight, will explore the site tomorrow morning, hopefully I'll find the chemical manipulators I came for.

Yes, both the new ADS and DSS have to be utilized in super. Just throttle all the way back to zero speed and you'll slow to about 30. Engage the DSS and fire one at the planet dead center and one at or about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch (depends on your screen size and how close you are to the actual object) beyond the surface at approximately 12:00, 03:00, 06:00 and at 09:00. You should then get 100% coverage of the entire surface. Look in NAV panel and it should be there.

Once there, make sure to scan the large beacon near the main entrance. IF you do, you'll not have to ever probe for it again.

Well I figured it out but once again dropped out waay too far out..

I've been there a couple of dozen times in various ships. For whatever reason, when I am in my conda, I can never drop into the zone any closer than 18 clicks. Any and all other ships get me within 5.

Similarly, you can press the F3 button in Minecraft to see your coordinates... ;)

It's just a matter of moving around and heading in the direction that makes the numbers move in the direction you want them to, bearing in mind that they can roll over. Being able to set target coordinates would be nice and handy though, even if not as permanent bookmarks.

Why do you waste time on this? Just find a HGE with >20 minutes lifetime - they occur literally in any system you jump in, and if none exist, just collect a pair of EGE there and HGE will appear.
Then fly to HGE, collect materials, and kill game process in task manager. Launch game, enter supercruise - and the same HGE will pop up back right next to you (less than 1ls almost always, often just several megameters). Drop back into it, and collect G5 materials again with limpets. Rinse, repeat. In 20 minutes you collect full stack of some G5 material. Go to material trader, and trade whole stack of G5 for lower materials in the same class - usually it allows to get full stacks for almost all lower materials (except a G4 probably, which will be not full). Go again to HGE, and replenish G5 to full stack again.
In this way, you get full stacks (300, 250, 200, 150, 100) for all five materials from the single "material class" (row) in about 1 hour.
Repeat 7 times for all material classes, and don't waste time on collecting pennies anywhere else.
Is that really playing Elite Dangerous though?
