President Kincaid Illegal Funding Allegations

President Gibson Kincaid has been accused of receiving illegal campaign funding via the Bank of Zaonce.
Councillor Elijah Beck presented evidence to a special session of the Alliance Assembly:
“During September 3304, President Kincaid’s re-election campaign received several billion credits worth of undeclared funds. I have received data suggesting that these transactions were secretly arranged by a senior figure within the Bank of Zaonce.”
“Regrettably I cannot reveal the source of this evidence since it constitutes part of an ongoing investigation. However, I call upon the Assembly to open an official inquiry to establish if there was any violation of campaign finance law.”
Councillor Beck’s proposal was approved by a majority vote, after which Prime Minister Edmund Mahon authorised the inquiry to begin immediately.
As yet there has been no comment from President Kincaid.

Not sure if I remember correctly, but didn't the Bank of Zaonce become so big because they invested in a certain spaceship manufacturer?
I think that manufacturers might be a bit annoyed about that Lakon Alliance deal.

A more powerful Alliance president that is a bit more hawkish might be just what they want. New spaceship contracts, but now from a "real Alliance" manufacturer, not basically an Federation one.

I have to admit that Lakon played their cards pretty good.

is the most successful bank in the Milky Way galaxy, and as a result is used by all Commanders to store credits. The Bank of Zaonce is based in the Zaonce system.
The Bank of Zaonce also provides insurance on ships, ship modifications, and cargo.

History
Early in Zaonce's colonial history, in 2682, a former Federation banking executive named Herschel Derrey moved to the colony and set up a family banking business. He and his extended family spread their business around the world. In only a decade and by 2693 they had earned a reputation as a level headed and reliable financial establishment. Derrey's daughter Emily brokered a loan on an undisclosed but sizeable sum of credits to an up and coming spacecraft manufacturer named Faulcon Manspace in exchange for stock options. Six years later, when the Viper was unveiled, profit rolled in and the stock options for Faulcon Manspace suddenly became vastly profitable to her family. Buoyed by this financial victory, Derrey took over several other banking concerns on the world until his corporation was the sole financial establishment on the planet, although operating under different brands. They adopted the name Bank of Zaonce in 2718.

Or Councillor Beck/Prime Minister Mahon had Silva killed, waited for Kincaid to win, knowing how unpopular he will become with his hawkish stance and push for more presidental powers,then fabricate this election funding scam, will have Kincaid removed and reluctantly become Beck will become President himself, a status quo President, just what the type PM Mahon would want.

Elijah Beck by contrast, is a highly experienced politician. Hailing from the Leesti system, he has served in the Assembly for over four decades. He is generally considered a safe pair of hands, but it's unlikely that he would bring about any significant changes as president.

Sorry, it was me. But for the sake of transparency he did say he was going to use the money to construct a mega ship for orphans. He just left out the “and sell them to the highest bidder.” part of the plan.
