FWIW I felt the same way at first, but then I got past a certain "hump" and it became a lot easier and way more fun. I'm definitely enjoying the "sea legs" aspect of my new Cyclops submarine (along with the interior decorating).Got subnautica, but really can't get that into it. Its pretty, it has some nice features and mechanics, but i think i gorged myself to death on survival games with Ark and just can't face them any more.
This is where I'm with NMS. Survival mode is too grindy to me, but creative mode is too easy / purpose-less for me. I actually suggested to Hello Games that they add an "Engineer Mode" to NMS that makes us like Scotty or McGuiver, where we are smart enough to build anything if we have the materials. I really don't enjoy the grind of unlocking blueprints.I put it into create mode after my initial play, just to mess around, but not enough there to make creative mode a compelling game for me either
Anyway, Subnautica is a better NMS than NMS, IMO, at least when it comes to balancing survival with all the fun stuff (once you get past the hump and figure out some shortcuts).
ps - I have Frontier to thank for forcing me into giving Subnautica another go!
