Still, after all this time...

Got subnautica, but really can't get that into it. Its pretty, it has some nice features and mechanics, but i think i gorged myself to death on survival games with Ark and just can't face them any more.
FWIW I felt the same way at first, but then I got past a certain "hump" and it became a lot easier and way more fun. I'm definitely enjoying the "sea legs" aspect of my new Cyclops submarine (along with the interior decorating).

I put it into create mode after my initial play, just to mess around, but not enough there to make creative mode a compelling game for me either
This is where I'm with NMS. Survival mode is too grindy to me, but creative mode is too easy / purpose-less for me. I actually suggested to Hello Games that they add an "Engineer Mode" to NMS that makes us like Scotty or McGuiver, where we are smart enough to build anything if we have the materials. I really don't enjoy the grind of unlocking blueprints.

Anyway, Subnautica is a better NMS than NMS, IMO, at least when it comes to balancing survival with all the fun stuff (once you get past the hump and figure out some shortcuts).

ps - I have Frontier to thank for forcing me into giving Subnautica another go!

I do know it is a relative minor issue.
But the steady quality decrease the game has suffered since it went live is noticeable.
To me it matters because the core center of this game is "you and your ship", therefore ships should be at the forefront of quality when delivering. This is not something that should have happened, neither is the Cutter's false ceiling in the Class 4 HP. Or the hardpoint doors that float magically on some other ships (like the Mamba's class 4HP). And so many other minor things.

Anyway. Rage quitting is for sore loser. That I am not.

NMS is still on my list of games i'd like to play one day as well.... but again, not sure i can face survival mode, and creative will get old quickly i think.
Want space legs? Try Warframe. Pure, unadulterated, mindless fun. ;)

Been away from ED for about 6 months. I come back today and...

1. See mid-life crisis red Mamba with many guns.
2. Wipe away drool.
3. Buy ship.
4. Dump $13 on a Mamba raider package.
5. Undock to snap some pics
6. ...and the landing gear is glitched?!

I understand that ED currently has legions of other bugs and many would consider this one to be low priority due to game-play being unaffected.
Well... My game-play has been affected by this. If I hadn't spent $13 on a 'visual' upgrade for this ship I could care less.
But I did spend the money and I expect my new champion of male insecurity to work properly! Landing gear and all!

Anything in any game that costs RL currency to purchase and/or upgrade should be considered high priority when it comes to fixing bugs!

Yeah when you put it like that it is pretty naughty of FD to not fix it up...

...bet they would refund if you ask.

Also, if you sneeze, she’ll overheat. I’ve never returned a ship so fast...

Well considering Frontier had an update in the past with over 2000 unlisted bug fixes.... Who knows that landing gear bug might have been fixed for a short time and re-introduced with a later update. That's also common practice at Frontier you know. They don't seem to learn from mistakes.

I've played a lot buggier games than ED. Skyrim tops the list, and Bethesda wins hands down. FD doesn't hold a candle to their mastery of bugginess. Even with the unofficial patch, which was not made by Bethesda, but by modders and it fixed 90% of the bugs, Skyrim is still far more buggy than Elite, and that game released nearly EIGHT YEARS ago. So if that is the measuring stick, then at least FEDEV by far is not the worst.

Want something more recent, ok. How about ESO Tamriel? That's roughly half as old, sitting at 4 years since release, and it still has bugs galore. Stuck in that wall again? Sorry guys, we'll fix it one of these years.. So while we moan and groan about Elite, and rightfully so in most cases, at lease they are not as bad as some of these other studios that are far bigger than them and have far more resources. The by no means let's FD off the hook, but it does put a little perspective on it, now doesn't it.

Do you understand the role played by the prioritization of bugs by software companies? Then you answered your own question.

So you are saying I should keep quiet about it?

Or because there are games that are buggier than Elite we shouldn't respectfully complain and remind them that those blemishes exist?
wow.

First of all, nice ghost reply there. Next time use the multi-quote feature, quote both of our posts, and address us individually, it's there for a reason. Secondly, this is a pointless post, read the last sentence in my reply, it answers your question.

Folks were recently up in arms because a cosmetic monitor in the DBX had mysteriously changed colour...

Of course you have a right to complain when the whole landing gear on a newly released ship hangs out.

Not sure why the other chap is choosing to flex his keyboard muscles...

Asking someone to quote your post when replying to it is not flexing your keyboard muscles, its' common sense and done out of transparency.

That's a fairly "fresh" issue by FDev standards ;)

PS.
Here's the Anaconda C4 Hardpoint penetrating and firing through the Cargo hatch - and that Geometry problem is as old as the Anaconda design itself xD

Wow that' s some pretty bad clipping, not an easy fix either, they would have to relocate the cargo hatch behind the hardpoint, I think that would be the most logical solution.

I just want to slide in here with something similar that bothers me. Anyone ever have a close look at the middle hard point cover on the Krait MKII when the hard point is deployed?

I've seen it deploy in outfitting, but I wasn't really looking that closely, what's it doing?

Perspective is a nice thing to have. But this whole game revolves around you and your ship. Your ship is your main tool and reason you do anything. Therefore the idea that any bug related to your main device of gameplay could be a mayor thing is not farfetched. The ships should be the things that are most polished. Of course a landing gear, a false ceiling, a door clipping a hardpoint, scrambled textures, doors that float, sounds that are ear piercing and a bunch of other stuff is not considered exactly "game breaking", personally I do not quite agree.

LOL. Exaggerate much?

I'm saying at most file a bug report; it's not that big of a deal; more pressing bugs exist. No need to make a big deal about it in a General Discussion thread.

The FSS bug, as a single example, is more important to fix because it actually stops some players from actually completing a task within the game. A visual landing gear deployed bug, which can be rectified by jumping and does not actually inhibit any game play, is very low on a priority list.
