Still, after all this time...

The FSS bug, as a single example, is more important to fix because it actually stops some players from actually completing a task within the game. A visual landing gear deployed bug, which can be rectified by jumping and does not actually inhibit any game play, is very low on a priority list.
In software development there is something called bug severity. It can, but often isn't, correlated to bug priority. ;)

100% understand and agree. My example was simply the first that came to mind but possibly isn't the best. Either way, a sheer graphical only bug, which isn't permanent, is going to be less a priority to resolve than bugs which actually impact or inhibit gameplay. Especially so with how this crowd cries over the slightest spilled milk when some aspect of game play is impacted.

Generally speaking I would agree with you. The problem arises when FDev wants you to spend good money (and let's face it, paintjobs and especially ship kits aren't exactly priced at bargain basement levels) on visual items, because people who buy cosmetics tend to enjoy looking at their ships frequently via the 3rd person camera, and seeing these silly bugs may put people off buying cosmetics for that ship as a result.

But if I was FDev I'd simply address this sort of bug quickly because 1) it may impact store sales and 2) I honestly can't see it taking a lot of time for a developer to fix - they already know the issue, and surely the code covering retracting the landing gear won't cover more than a few lines; it's probably just a flag set incorrectly (only taking an educated guess of course, maybe the code is far more spaghetti-esque which would explain other issues also). An easy win basically.

They may well (and by the looks of things, indeed do) see this differently of course, and that's fair enough I guess. Plenty of other ships to play with but it's just a very odd oversight given the ship was one of only two new vessels released during 3.3, you'd have thought they'd put more care into new content to make sure it works - just like all other 36 ships work in this particular regard, and it's not like it's easy to miss. I noticed it literally the moment I lifted off during the beta, as I admired the otherwise quite nice visuals via the external camera.

Maybe it's just me but I find the problem so utterly trivial I can't comprehend why it's such a problem. I have purchased skins for my ships and I take an assortment of screenshots with my ship in view and I can't say I'd notice, or care, if the landing gear appeared down. It doesn't impact my gameplay in any manner so I could just ignore it until it got fixed and the problem is fixed by jumping to another system. Again, maybe that's just me...

The "easy win" of fixing it. Maybe yes. It depends on what else is being worked on and the impact/priority balance of them. If the company I work for is any example, the "easy wins" are the ones put at the bottom of the pile, expected turnover of 2023 :p

It's not you, it's me (lol)

It could also be due to the fact that I spent a total of almost 20 Euros (you can buy full games for that kind of money, just to put into perspective a little) on shipkit plus a couple of paintjobs for the Viper Mk3, before realising the bugged animation, again, landing gear related (it clips into the cockpit each time), and which remains unfixed for quite a long time apparently.

I learned to live with that as it's not a big enough deal to ask for a refund and I generally still enjoy flying the ship, but when I saw the Mamba issue a few weeks later, in the Production client, and after having seen a number of players raise it as a bug during the beta last year, I just thought this is enough now, I'm going to make a point out of principle by not purchasing any items for the Mamba (actually had some items in the store shopping basket already, then remembered to double check the issue still exists).

Am under no illusion that this point will get noticed but I feel better about myself not paying real money on shoddy work that the dev isn't too bothered to fix.

Got Mamba L Gear to work on launch yesterday.

Verity: "Landing gear retracted"

What I did differently: Clicked launch from inside the hanger instead of launching from the pad. Have not yet attempted to reproduce.

It's not a bug. The Mamba is like an Alfa Romeo, beautiful to look at but there will always be something wrong with it. It overheated and the electrics don't work properly.

the gun on top shoots through your pilot until you try vr and external camera too.
fun fact you can still boost if you lower the landing gear (it's the only ship that can do that)

Yeah but, did you check the gear was actually retracted using the external camera?

The gear has always reported being retracted, and the ship flies as if the gear is retracted.
It's just the graphics that show the gear as being deployed, until after your first frameshift jump.

It's more common than that. I've become a stickler for ship model glitches and racked up a number of them in the issues tracker.

Hauler - landing gear clips into cockpit
Adder - ditto
Vipers - ditto
Type-7 - portside hole, position ship in front of something bright and you can see right through
Phantom - topside hole, ditto
Keelback - engine pods clip into main hull or gap away from it, due to how they're flush with it at an angle
Asp Scout - utility mounts are reversed front to back

Caveat emptor - give a new ship a shakedown period and be sure it's a keeper before you invest in it.

The funny thing is that even if they fix this, it will come back after a while in some other update, you all know that right? It is just how it goes. Maybe all mamba pilots, should get used to it.
