With the books, the movies, the scientific reports, the predictions of the prophets ect ... we catch the devil by the tail and we will attract a catastrophe.
So the preparations for Apophis 2068 are proceeding then...
Sigh. I'm still kind of hoping for some nice toasty humanity-wiping catastrophe to happen.
But if it doesn't happen soon, we're really going to learn to avert them, which is depressing.

I dunno, I think the environmental issues are on track to screw us over. Especially with certain leaders in charge.
Well, yeah. I have no doubt we can wipe ourselves out, but I'd prefer if we took as little of the planet with us as possible.

Yeah but as a global percentage dont they have the most land area of any country? If it isnt going to hit in the ocean, a betting man would pick russia.The interesting part is that in the 100 year, all 3 biggest Asteroid impacts were in Russia:
1908 Tunguska Event
2013 Chelyabinsk
2018 Kampchatka
You would think Russia would be more worried about it, than anyone else. They are like a magnet to them.

I think the reason for it being either Seattle or Detroit so often is that they are relatively big cities that everybody know, yet at the same time kind of insignificant that they can represent "them" (e.g. "yes, it's a big tragedy that I can relate to but not feel too threatened myself at the same time"
