What to expect doing black hole mission

For those that have not done such mission yet.. it goes by the name of 'Hole in the sky', 'The Great Annihilator'...

EDIT : 1) During the last jump to the black hole system, throttle down to zero immediately upon reaching (just like reaching a regular star), because it's invisible and you may think you can fly through, but you're really crashing into the black hole (like entering the Sun).

Else, hull and modules damage (1 - 2 %) will occur when jumping into a black hole system. So bring along AFMU and Limpet Controller (and stock up repair limpet). For a single trip mission, one AFMU and a small Limpet controller shall be enough.

2. Depends on which direction you jump into the black hole system, the visitor beacon may be just ahead of you or being blocked by the black hole. You can imagine the black hole is like an invisible planet star. If the beacon is just ahead of you, you may supercruise safely once the FSD cools down. If blocked, supercruise out of the black hole via the escape vector. Once you got out, steer around the black hole to the opposite end, just like you would on a planet / star.

3. Once mission is completed, do not repair your ship immediately. I did so, and got scanned, resulting in cancelling of contract. Just select some distance star and repair it later.

Do add additional tips to this.

It may be a new thing I guess. Not been to the Great A, but other BHs from Cyg X-1 to the Saggy A hole haven't caused me ship damage in the past.

wow.. when i resume game, those passengers cancelling the contract escaped / exited from their cabin... at a random star next to the black hole.. some over 20,000 Ly away !!:whistle:
Yep. These supposed scientists/famous explorers have some questionable intellect sometimes. Maybe secret cult leaders?

Well.. I've still got 1 passenger (miserable) but still continuing the journey and it's another black hole. I throttle down to zero upon reaching the system and still got hull / modules damages.

OK well I'm sure everyone has their own way to do this, depending on control systems etc. I use a HOTAS and my method is to zero the throttle as soon as the FSD countdown starts - ie before I enter hyperspace but after the ship is committed to the jump. I am therefore already at zero when I arrive.
You might try that, or see what others recommend. On the other hand, it might well be a new feature that BHs damage you no matter what. Or it might be a bug.

Ok, i try this method on a regular jump - throttle to zero while counting down.. the meter did not show it's throttling down, but upon reaching the star, the ship stop to a halt. Very much like the Supercruise Assist stopping on every jump. I'll give this a go on my next black hole trip. Thanks!
