7A or 8A shields....

Just bought a type 10. Now 7A and 8A shield specs as shown in the game are virtually the same other than the ones relating to mass. My mass is lower than the 7A shields max but what is the actual difference? There’s nearly 100M Cr difference even at founder prices.

Is it worth spending the extra? I’m also trying to keep the jump range reasonable!

There is a ~35% increase in total shield strength by going to class 8. This is due to the higher optimum hull mass of the class 8 (1800 vs. 1060) and the high hull mass of the T10 (1200). It is the optimium hull mass that counts for shield strength. The maximum hull mass controls, which classes can be equipped.
More importantly, the shield reload rates of class 8 Biweaves are also 30% higher than the class 7 ones. This leads to the shields recovering quicker after being hit.

Thanks. This was the information that I wanted. I bought the 7 so I will try that then swap it for the 8.
