Heres an old bug thats still around and effects me so that i am truly playing dangerous....

All player Cmdrs are showing up as npc's.

What that means for those who dont know is when in open all my radar contacts are solid boxes even my wing mates when im in a wing everything is solid.

Ive done the verify files both through steam and fd launcher. Even did a fresh install. Still have solid boxes for player Cmdrs. Game breaking for sure because i cant tell whos real or npc. Its a 4 year old or older bug which still hasnt been fixed.

Graphics settings are on high which my lil ol laptop runs just fine with a steady 60 fps.

I deal with it like so many others who have delt with bugs that havent been fixed. Oh and that bug also affected me when i played on ps4 as well as now on pc.

Suck it up if ya like the game keep playing if ya dont well then eject yourself out of an airlock and find something else to play, it aint that hard. I have 1300 hrs through pc and about the same on ps4.

I personally love the game, only major complaint i have is all the f-uped grinding this game has. Hell im at the point now after a clear save and restart im not looking foward to the grind for mats, honestly its imo. Other then the grindind i can handle little bugs like the one i mentioned.

Look the game is so cheap these days (cheaper than a packet of cigs) you can simply pick up a new copy and start again. If you have the equipment you can also multicrew (when it works). You can transfer millions to the 2nd account easily and efficiently.

No reason to wipe/restart

Well I stoped playing again yeasterday. I didnt rage quite as I expected. I simply switched it off while I was waiting for collectors. Before that I was waiting for fuell scoop, waited to get to 45k ls station, waited while mining, waited for NPC. I waited until robot in me unlock guardian weapons and I waited until I pressed J to jump million times.

I also waited to realise that content I play is all which was introduced during two years of me waiting for some update from FDev. Is there even something recently new? I guess Ill wait for 2020.

It wasnt entirely bad, here and there I had some fun too, but I have to say I had to wait a lot for that. So thanks for all the help ppl gave me here on forum and Ill go wait for year 2020.

Its a waiting simulator. It might get hard to increasse those player numbers if this trend will never change.

Not necessarily, I am not new and have been playing quite regularly in the last few months and to be honest I dont remember any significant bugs at all. Or at least not as doomsday-ish as indicated by some here. The most annoying one some text strings in missions not reading properly and my VR hanging up on ocassion when exiting the game.

I mean I do not doubt there are bugs, most games have their share, but in my case there has not been anything at all game breaking or major in any way. Been doing the Guardian runs, engineering galore, missions, tons of deep core mining and some explo. All in VR btw.

But, hey, maybe just me.

The only game in the top-10 list I might compare to ED is GTA5, assuming it's the online version (both being open-world 'blaze your own trail' games IIRC). I don't have any interest in the GTA series, so I'm curious what keeps an old game like that so popular?

And FWIW, one reason I'd never use the top-10 games bash ED is because I don't want ED to be "dumbed down" in order to compete with the likes of PUBG. I much prefer ED remaining a healthy niche game.

Why would I be afraid of the numbers? It's just that this always raised when ever someone want to rake the game over the coals again, to complain that the game is dying because the feature they want hasn't has not been implemented or to say that frontier is a bad company.It's just so people can point and say that the game is rubbish and it will be shut down soon, isn't that why these kinds of threads are started?

Ironically, when you look at the numbers, Elite's doing 20% better on steam than the same period last year. Those number in the thousands, not the tens, or hundreds of thousands that the top ten games get. And it's a little unfair to compare the likes of Dota 2 and GTA 5, because they're completely different games. The closest you can compare the Elite to is NMS, which by your own figures, doesn't has as many people playing at the moment. Of Course, that will change when NMS get's it big update later this year and then I'm quite sure this thread will be back saying that Elite is Dying.

GTA5 is seen by Steam as a single game; it doesn't differentiate between playing the solo campaign or Online multiplayer.

GTA5 is also the 3rd best selling game ever. PUBG is the 5th.

Thing is they can continue to milk gta v for a while because it's their main cash cow. Just like Elite and Elite's cosmetic department is Frontier's Cash Cow

Only marketing I see for GTA5 these days on PS4 is insane sales. I was tempted by it because it was so cheap awhile back, but I just don't like the GTA ethos.

I was thinking of GTA5 as an "old" game, probably because it is on my platform compared to ED, but I see it's close to the same age as ED. I would suspect, like ED, many players eventually get bored and move on to something else after they've "done it all". That's why the high numbers surprise me. In some ways ED feels like it offers more for long-term players, thanks to the BGS and a galaxy that will never be fully explored in our lifetime.

I'm still waiting for Rockstar to make a Firefly game, as a console exclusive of course

So along with playing ED I also enjoy a good game of PES - still on the 2018 version, still playing master league, have more money than sense, could buy any player I wanted but what I actually do is just keep bringing through promising youngsters from the youth team.

And you could argue that there is nothing 'new' for me in that game and that is correct however it does not stop me from enjoying the game of playing football.

In much the same way I have done most things in ED and so there is nothing 'new' in that game however I enjoy the mechanic of flying around in my ship and scanning stuff n trading n fighting - in essence I enjoy playing the game for the sake of playing the game.

As for bugs - again I play on PS4 and apart from the FSS issue that was cleared up a few weeks back I have never really had a game breaking bug.

If you miss bugs in PS4 you may want to consider DayZ, just released at $50.

lol, no snark at all. Quite the opposite, I actually "liked" his post. I should have added a smiley! It was a comment about a game that seems to have been actually quite buggy overall (as opposed to his ED experience) so far, and that may also be quite buggy in PS4, for $50.
