I was right, you were wrong

I'm confident both carriers and improved planetary surfaces will arrive with 2020 update, it also allows time for GPUs to improve by then
I'm not sure what to expect at this point... Wait, this thread is 15 pages long an I'm just now responding to a post on the first page. Well, no matter...

Regarding world generation improvements, I could see optimization limitations for current intended hardware use, both consoles and many PCs, being an issue. Of course this is just speculation, and could have been a setback or not currently viable for a number of reasons.

The specified target goal render they aimed to reach was rather ambitious. In some respects this could be said for the whole game and its potential.

It's a decent game, and second to none is some respects, but I'm still hoping for much more from it before development on it stops beyond general support and maintenance.

Oh come now Max, you remember how Frontier bigged up 3.3, how it was explained 3.1 and 3.2 would be smaller so everything could get into 3.3?

Then there were cuts from 3.3.

You do have reason to be skeptical of Frontier's output, but I applaud your loyalty. I wish I could still be in that place.
And 3.3 was still a very big update, probably the biggest apart from 2.0 and with other parts added which we didn't know about such as the BGS changes.

It's got nothing to do with loyalty. It's just using the information I have. They have said something big, a new era is coming in a year and a few months. Some of that new ara may be change or be re-prioritsed on the way. So what. That's life, but I still expect the new era to come though and have no reason to think it won't.

Fleet carriers and ice shaders are small parts for of the main update which were exploration, mining, BGS and the inclusion of guilds. Fleet carriers are a guilds ls add on. Ice planet shaders not coming is not going to kill the game. They would be nice, but no game breaker. I can certainly live without both.

Sure I would have loved them to be included, but saying because those parts were not included stops it being their biggest update (apart from 2.0) is just wrong.

It was their biggest update regardless of those updates being pushed back.

What OP did was get us an FD official response on one of the matters. Which is FAR more than we usually receive. Thank you, OP!

Not true. As of late FDEV's communication has improved indeed. Perhaps not to the level I'd personally prefer, but we've been getting a lot more info lately than say last year.

Plus, you don't have to be rude, arrogant and lie to get FDEV to give us info. It's enough to ask politely most of the times.

If anything, it's probably due to threads like this one FDEV are keeping silent in the first place.

You're confident that Frontier will deliver even though you have no idea what they are intending to deliver?

Sounds pretty loyal to me :)

I hope Frontier will deliver, but as I don't have an inkling of what their target is, I can't reasonably be expected to pass a valued judgement either way.

I am confident that it will be something substantial as virtually the entirety of the team is working on it for over two years according to Fdev.

So yes, I am pretty confident it will be something big.

I am not giving judgement in how good it will be though as I haven't seen it yet. But the leak which has been correct so far indicates space legs, which will be a significant upgrade.

Ah, the leak which Frontier has chosen to neither confirm nor deny.

There is nothing to go on other than an undefined claim with a six month target timeframe.

Well if it's true, they can't deny it as everyone would call them a bunch of liars. If it's false and they deny it then the only thing left would be atmospheric planets.

It's probably best for them to keep quiet and not mention anything.

Or maybe base building :)
No point in base building if you can't walk around them in my view. And base building on its own I don't think will be a large update worthy of being called the next era.

If base building does come it won't be like NMS base building. It will be done in a more believable way I would have thought.

It's probably my fault as some years back when we didn't get some feature talked about by Frontier devs in an update (I forget what), I mentioned that they might not want to talk about features of the game they intend on implement early as people then come to expect it, and even if it is implemented, might not meet their built up expectations by the time it is implemented, having gone through various viability and unforeseen limitations and "prioritization" passes in the interim.

Never mind all that though. From what I remember hearing them say, they intend to make more feature complete expansions/DLC people can purchase at face value instead of as early access, season passes, pre-purchases, or the like, waiting for what they expected and paid for to be implemented.

Funny enough, having the LEP and seeing the early dev videos, to an extent that's what I'm doing now still anyway. I'm not really sure what to expect though. Seems like a good chance of it being rather substantial, given the above and the purported number of devs working on the game for so long. But then, well, maybe not. We'll see.

Once again, you seem to have access to more information than the rest of us. "If base building does come it won't be like NMS base building" how do you know this, how could you possibly know this?
