Is powercreep from engineers totally out of control or was that a cheater?

No one is trolling you, lol.

This is on another thread right now:

Cheating seems to be out of control, there were corvettes making FDLs seem like space whales, and cutters just sitting there taking crazy amount firepower with 0% damage on anything. This was at Shinrarta.

That's not at all similar to what you described.

Oh, so a cheat of unlimited shields is nowhere near like cheat of super OP weapons, you don't say, seriously, go help other people, I don't need your expert help

Dude if you want people to help you, to put the work in on your behalf then my advice would be to stop being so touchy.
I've put up all the details I had, what was modified from normal setup, I ain't going to repeat/research questions because someone is suggesting I am hiding something? My question is in the OP and pretty simple, so far outside of plasma/rails noone has claimed any other sensible solution and even then, go splash a cutter with g5 shields from 10% shields to 40% hull, if you can repeat it, that would be an answer, where are all the answers?

So you won't put any effort into helping people that you want to help you?! Reread the thread, people wanted to help you, maybe a few questions got asked more than once (it happens) but you the one that started being difficult.

Look, the thread was up long enough, noone comes up with easy solution, then people come in and attack me because I don't provide answers to their encyclopedical questions fast enough (or claim I don't when I did), I reported to FD, so for me the thread can be closed unless someone CAN actually provide the mod names/grades? Again, it already went to FD, people like you complaining about my behaviour is not really changing anything, sure will be glad to remove my report and this thread if someone can actually answer it, but... oh wow, seems like it's not happening for whatever reason (people only cheat with unlimited shields lol)

I haven;t read all posts, but in case it hasn't been suggested yet: network issues can cause this weird stuff as well. What happens in that case is there is a de-sync between what your client thinks is happening, and what is actually happening. Things that can happen in this case include:

1) Damage not being directly visible, but 'kept apart' for a while until it is all delivered to your client in one go. It may seem like a massive hit, but it actually was a series of smaller hits your computer didn't know about.

2) You doing zero damage to an opponent. You seem to be shooting the opponent straight in the face, but he actually moved away eons ago but your client never got that info. From your opponents perspective you are seemingly aimlessly shooting at nothing at all.

Both of these smell terribly much like 'cheating' when it occurs, but it really is just a technical fluke that can happen. Don't worry too much about it: report it of you must and move on.

Thanks, I did consider that but in both 'fights' we had pretty much constant dmg output, seen my shield being lasered, then just disappear with hull taking 60% insta dmg, that's why it's so suspicious, it was 60% hull +remaining 10% of shield, there just aren't weapons that rip both so efficiently? Guardian mods don't seem to change much in that dept

Phasing Sequence can bleed through shields.

Hull was 100% while the shields were going down in both cases, the sudden jump to 40% is just... there just isn't a mod for that

It honestly sounds much less like weapon damage but much more like collision damage, with the opposing ship simply not being displayed where it actually is. Your shields would be just around 200MJ at that point, and a big collision could easily wipe that out plus most of your hull.

Something that speaks against cheating is the somewhat random nature of the damage. If I were to massively increase my damage using the cheat app, why stop at 'most of the hull'?

I was already boosting away from the guy at that point (yeah I know only 470ish as it's a cutter, but still), IF it is possible for both network lag AND him shooting at me while ignoring the network lag... maybe? But it seemed more or less clean with no jumps on scanner, still, would a 3x less massive ship cause 60% hull on cutter from that?

Honestly it's starting to seem to me that despite what you state you've already made up your mind that the guy/girl was cheating and just wanted people to back you up. Anytime someone brings up a possible outcome that doesn't involve cheating you shoot it down.

You want an "easy answer" but with the little amount of info regarding the other person's build thats not going to happen.

Next time just report the person straight away instead because it looks like that what you wanted to all along.

If it's about network bug - collision dmg? Then I am in the heaviest ship vs medium ship, so seriously, if you can reproduce a ship with 2 large/2 medium searing through 60% of hull while colliding with the heaviest ship... Let me know

The problem is that if it is a network issue, you don't have any guarantees that anything you saw on your screen was real. The only source of info you have is a broken source of info due to the network de-sync. As to the possibility of damage: absolutely. It really depends on loadout rather than just the ship. IIRC Hercules has some glorious vids of him ramming huge ships in his shieldless Viper Mk4, and totally trashing them. :D It is counter-intuitive for sure (and it is why many fall for it even when there is no de-sync, and then think the other person cheated because 'his ship is so small!'). It is just something that is very much possible and you cannot possibly find out if that is what happened with the info you have. And since you have more info than us, we can't help you determine that either.

Here is something funny to consider: both people can de-sync so noone knows what really happens. For all we know, he may be wondering why on earth you disabled your shields/engaged silent running!
