Do you?
See above, it's patently absurd, especially the follow up.
Do you?
And you further think that's a fair analogy, and can be applied to all forms of civil disobedience?
I suggest that's poppycock on multiple levels.

Lets be honest here we've known for a long time that reporting amounts to nothing, as was proven. This still doesnt mean its better to just sit and take it , call it throwing a hissy, tantrum or whatever you wish but taking this issue mainstream in the hopes of it finally being addressed or in the very least show the community that FD just dont care is a far better route than to bend over and ask for 2nds.
The game should be removing the client automatically. Simply comparing damage output (as reported by everyone else in the instance) to remaining shield health as reported by the hacked client, should be enough for this to be flagged as a serious discrepancy and potential hack.
Ideally, there would, at most, be a few minutes of this tolerated before the matchmaking servers forced the anamolous client to reconnect. If that didn't solve anything (e.g. further problems were flagged from the same client), it should move to an account suspension until the situation could be reviewed by support, who would then decide if it was a bug (in which case they'd unban the client, apologize for the the inconvenience, and forward the case as a bug report) or an actual hack, in which case they could just leave the account banned.
Point is, something this blatant should be flagged automatically and not require eye witness reports be reviewed on Monday for anything to be done. It's not like the level of telemetry required would be significant, or that subtracting one number from another would be a huge server load problem.
Ok serious question for people who see this as proof that FD is not on the case.. what should they do differently in your opinion?
They could build an auto detection system for cheating, but that is very difficult in a p2p setup and will generate false alarms leading to innocent players being banned.
Or, they could update the code regularly to break trainers (they do that) and ban people who are caught cheating (they do that).
I'm sorry, but if we all decided to amplify our personal concerns this way there'd never be any usable game play.interesting how many of you have entirely missed the point here. If he was terrorising people he would be ganking everyone. he did not. he sat in the mailslot and did nothing. protests are designed to inconvenience people. what's the point of protesting if nobody is around to see the protest? JM is the single most visited station in the game. there is no better place to do this protest. this cheat has been reported, repeatedly, for months and nothing is being done about it. so he invonenienced some people by blocking the mail slot. who cares? he was quite open about what he was doing, telling you to log to solo or PG if you really needed to dock. all you lot complaining...man this community is so self-centred. look at how abusive you lot get when he is highlighting something that you should care about. idiots
Not the same thing at all. Pushing the envelope on design flaws isn't even remotely the same as scripting. If this kind of thing made any sense, then some group should pad block in every CG to prove a point about pad blocking, or they should combat log constantly in CGs while streaming to prove a point. For some reason the solution is to sit in a mail slot in open and block people so that your message is the loudest. It's just someone cutting in traffic to get their way. Stop pretending someone running a game memory script is heroic.Am I the only one who thinks this is a fairly good idea?
Worked with Healies4Feelies.. Kinda...

How is scripting in a video game "civil disobedience"? If it is, why isn't it civil disobedience when the run of-the mill scripters do it? Do they just lack the heroic cause?Do you feel the same way about all forms of civil disobedience?
Saying it is doesn't make it so. If the game allows you to use healing beams and thus open fire inside the station, doing it isn't violating EULA. Scripting is violating EULA. "Allows" and "Disallows" means it's not the same thing. Having an anaconda that will jump 300LY with the right engineering and boosts isn't the same as having an anaconda that will jump 300 LY with a hack.Actually it's exacty the same thing. Frontier's game design clearly allows the system to be exploited and thier lack of activity to deal with it (Which lets be honest here, probably is'nt that simple) is a design flaw, hence pushing this particular activity makes sense.
Same with hacks then. It sucks that some folks are getting annoyed by it but if they want to prove their 100 + individual points, they have to crack a few eggs. Why does person A's point matter more than person B's?Yeah it sucks that some folk are getting annoyed by it, but you can't make an omlette, or in this case, prove a point, without cracking a few eggs.

Anything to get some views I suppose. No, it's not.
Healing beams were an intentional piece of game-design implemented by FDev.
People suggested they were too powerful but FDev didn't seem interested in listening.
The "protest" was intended to demonstrate exactly how big the problem was.
The subject of the protest was created by FDev and it was within their power to modify it.
That isn't the case here.
I'm sure FDev would love to find a way to fix the cheating but it wasn't them that created the cheats and there's a good chance that plugging the vulnerability that allows it will take a substantial amount of effort so, in the mean-time, it doesn't really achieve much to re-state something FDev already know.
You got to admire that person for spending the money on the acct just to highlight the problem. Personally i dont think i would care enough to do the same and if pvp were the only reason i played the game (as little as i do) or if pvp were a factor in my gameplay, i think i would just quit.
EDIT: If thats what it looks like i hope he gets a refund after the banning.
