So there’s currently a Cmdr stuck in the slot, station defences having no affect, assumed he’s proving a point about cheats...

I've been impressed with the new adaptation of Good Omens. It was very well done, and carries a lot of humour over from the book (which I usually find is what disappears when books are dramatized).

I've yet to watch it (my wife still needs to read the book first), but I have high hopes based on the fact that Neil Gaiman was the showrunner.

If I logged into Elder Scrolls Online right now with a god mode character how long would it taker for a GM to boot me do you think? Same for WoW...

How long did it take FDev?

Exactly this.

People can argue all day whether the protest was right or wrong, the apathy and opinions don't change the facts. What this proved is that players can cheat in a very public way without immediate action.

I can't think of any other major fully released mmo where this would occur.

Do you have any idea how many REAL protests I ignore with ease?

A little self-centered is actually a good thing. All this bleeding heart bull feces is turning society into one big puddle of diarrhea, not fit for habitation. Grow backbones, look out for Number One, and don't put up with Number Two from anyone - Especially me. I don't.

Well arent you just a delight.

Of course, FDev have hundreds and hundreds of active developers on this game. Far too active to take ten seconds to log into a dev account and forcibly disconnect the player. /s

But but it doesn't affect ME in solo, only those evil PvPers - they only get what they deserve - they are all gankers anyways

edit: I got ninja'd by you Jenner, sorry 😔

First result when searching for Elder Scrolls Online Cheaters Banned Immediately https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/462994/how-do-cheaters-get-banned-in-eso

With all due and respect Mr Ant, Agony Aunt has it right I think on this one.

Immediate bans are a good way to signal to the developer of the cheat engine what is giving them away. Likely being a small team, or even just one guy, things will be done to prevent detection very quickly, likely much faster than FDev can muster up a solution, due to having to fish around in boatloads of code and deal with a large team to do it. Thus causing the problem to persist.

I hope that fixing these loopholes is on thier agenda and that when a fix goes live it kills these stupid programs. Also, Perma ban anyone who has been shown to be abusing them. But when the fix goes live. It's not worth tipping off the developer of the cheat engine this quickly.

Not at all. The cheat was being broadcast to hundreds of people live. No detection was even needed. Frontier were well aware this was going on at the time it was occurring.

This wasn't an issue of cheating. It was an issue of moderating, and Frontier showed they do not moderate in these circumstances.

From a financial point of view you would think fdev would aggressively be banning accounts as the persistent ones are going to buy another one.

FD have never claimed to actively moderate. I assume by this you mean a moderator being there at the same time (in-game) and doing something? It was a weekend, why should anyone expect 24 hour moderation of that sort? Do you pay a service charge to cover such moderation?

And how long did it go on for, and how many commanders were really affected by it? Only those that appeared in that instance (and if they were bothered, they could simply block the player and re-instance, or choose another mode). Just as the vast majority of commanders aren't really affected by the cheaters (except in PvP, but again, you can block cheaters if you encounter them).

None of this is to say that FD shouldn't do something about it, but the players wouldn't and shouldn't be party to that (for a great many reasons). Adding automated protections for things like this is an ongoing process and will take time. It is also something that will likely last the life of the game. For every protection FD introduce, hackers are going to try and work around it, because that's what they enjoy doing.
