It's literally the first place newbie players get told "hey, you should come to THIS system and visit THIS base". When I was first starting out I didn't even hang around the systems with the mentor missions (I started after horizons and Asellus Primus doesn't even get them, just the "baby's first 10k courier mission" and that's it)
That and it's an engineer that explorers and traders and other soft targets use. Nobody hangs around Selene Jean looking to gank since by the time you've unlocked Jean you probably know how to submit & highwake, and if you're going to SJ you're probably not flying a paper hull. Literally, she's the bubble's "make your hull not paper" engineer. Pull someone at one of the weapon engineers and likewise you're gonna run into combat fits running at least military hull even if they are newbies. Farseer, though? The place people go to be like "if I make my ship out of anything other than balsawood it'll reduce my precious jumprange"? Nah, soft targets for days.

isn't asking for help in open to combat people in open an acceptable way to play in open?

The part where you were telling someone to cope with open as a response to how they post on the forum makes any sense

Sorry, really confused now! If I was a ganker I would be happy to admit to it, I would be saying: "I'm a ganker, deal with it!". Why are gankers ashamed to admit they are gankers? I genuinely don't get why they are ashamed, they're not breaking the rules.....
Because certain people get weird about it to the point of (in some instances) digging up the ganker's real-life details and reviewbombing their places of work.

Glad its been cleared, dont come moaning someone is inconveniencing you, if you are going to break the rules while at it. Especially given solo exists.

Try using google translate if you are having issues, its getting embarassing. Killing other pilots is fine, naming players that inconvenience you on the forums is not.
