900 upvote, +1k soon... Frontier you can't ignore the community requests ;) -PANTHER LX-!!!

There's been enough rehashing of centuries old ship designs.

I hope ZP leaves the Panthers in the graveyards and develope something new.

I really like the look of the ship in that image. It looks better than the Cutter imo.

If it does get released and carries more than the Cutter with maybe 3 large and and 3 medium hp's, at least 2k shields, 400m/s post engineering I'd sell a Cutter.

So the Panther sure, but as others have said a bigger cargo ship I don't think adds much.

But regardless think about where the game is right now, the human bubble is slowly being eradicated, where would a new cargo ship fit into that?

Putting real world many year build times aside as unrealistic...

If a ship manufacturer released right now wouldn't it more likely be combat, probably integrating guardian or thargoid tech?

It'll be the final form of space trucking for people that enjoy that part of the game. Give it loads of hull and turrets all over it (with limited overlapping cones of fire) for the space fortress feel. And one huge hardpiont that can only fire forwards.

"Is your Type-9 feeling too nimble? Feeling cramped? Not getting all the cargo in? No problem: Introducing the Panther Clipper! Now you can haul much more, even slower."

Inara’s log of CG results is your friend.
I haven't look but I think you're right anyway. Many players play ED mainly for fighting, or this is their main role.
But do they really need a new combat ship? Looking at the shipyard most of the ships are already combat related. We need to re-balance a bit and as others said it could come with a new form of gameplay... maybe as a fleetcarrier (I don't wish so, but who knows...)

It is difficult to see how a "bigger T9" could be introduced without making the T9 obsolete. The addition of the second size 8 slot on the T9 pretty much makes the Panther unnecessary as a freighter otherwise, and the "slow turreted battleship" role is covered by the T10. So they'd have to come up with something new. This is likely why it hasn't been (and maybe never will be) introduced.

The ability to carry a smaller ship (other than an SLF) would at least be "something new".

After how they messed up the Imperial Courier compared to the FE2/FFE Imperial Courier .... leave the Panther Clipper out of it. I'd rather remember it fondly than facepalm at it getting butchered by Frontier.
