Just another one on top of all the others...

Reddit Post about Panther LX
It needs to be a new class of ship and there needs to be more than one choice. It's inevitable if they ever want to compete with eve, star citizen, or hell even nms, they will eventually need to make truly massive ships. This one should be significantly bigger than a large ship but smaller than a cap ship. It should NOT have station access- it should be limited to parking at capital ship docks. Just like how having a large ship limits you from taking missions at outposts. Except since losing stations presents a significant downside, there would have to be a significant upside to having access to the capital ship docks. Large single component cargo that's volume based rather than weight based, for instance.
I think the panther needs to be the multicrew flagship. You shouldn't be able to even fly it without two AI crew, but it can utilize all 3, plus 4 additional slots for a full wing of commanders or a partial wing and some of their own crew. It would have enough weapons to divvy up, perhaps other minigames related to engineering which could be done, and 3 pilots out at once. Stripped down, impulse-only combat sidewinder could be launched from it.

It'll be the final form of space trucking for people that enjoy that part of the game. Give it loads of hull and turrets all over it (with limited overlapping cones of fire) for the space fortress feel. And one huge hardpiont that can only fire forwards.

"Is your Type-9 feeling too nimble? Feeling cramped? Not getting all the cargo in? No problem: Introducing the Panther Clipper! Now you can haul much more, even slower."
And that is exactly what I want. 4 years waiting since it was first teased, I want that ship. The Cutter being the be all end all cargo ship is so wrong in so many ways. Yet that has been the de facto situation ever since it was released. The cargo buff on the T9 didn't change that in any way.

We got the type 9. It exists.....which frankly is a huge bulky cargo vessel, which handles like a tank.....which is basically what the clipper was in FFE. People have created this mythos around the clipper...but really it was just a big cargo ship. And we have those, and a huge one in the T9. I'm not too keen on another.

They can ignore this request and will too, ignoring is their specialty.
Just watch how good they are at ignoring this.

I think that is a very unfair statement, considering the countless times FDev have listened to the community and changed things, added things.
And in the end it is FDev's game. They will always have to make the decision what is worth and/or opportune investing dev time in.
You can complain about every choice they make, because choosing one thing will always mean that something else will not have been chosen.
FDev can never do it right that way.

Yes a good lucidity here.

It will come out before the specs are even released because someone somewhere will hate the way it looks or something.
No it wont be 10 minutes it will be from a preview image along that thread will appear
True, I'm being overly optimistic here. The point of course being that the amount of ideas that have been put forward for this means there's going to be a whole load of people complaining to Frontier about it.

Obviously this happens anyway with every other ship but there's been so much discussion with the only agreement being that the ship should be massive that the devs probably can't be bothered with the fall out. This, of course, on top of the inevitable "a cargo ship bigger than a T9 has worse manouverability than a T9" threads.

The Type-9 is more like the Puma Clipper. The Panther Clipper is yet sizably larger.

Once internal Equipment is accounted for, the Panther only really would have one size 8 internal over the Type 9
Panther clipper should have few optional modules. It should come with 2000 fixed cargo space that you can't change. Optionals slots are only for reinforcement, shields, limpet controllers an hangar able to transport a small ship. No additional cargo racks there. Hardpoints should only be for turrets.
Then a panther clipper variant should be released for bulk passengers. 2000 places in economy.
A new set of missions for these 2 ships should then be released

Why?

The Panther was just a slow big ship, but not that much bigger than the Type 9

There wouldn't be much point, we already have too many ships and too few reasons to use 90% of them. And what's a huge trade ship going to let us do right now? Do you feel like making money is so hard, that you need a way to make even more of it with a bigger ship? Either the Panther Clipper will be good at core mining and there will be no reason to use anything else, or it will not and there will be no reason to use it.

Before it makes any sense to add more huge ships, we need a full rebalance of the economy (so that money becomes a progression factor again) and the way big ships work (so that they become the specialized and expensive tools they were meant to be at first).

I don't think it's a very unfair statement at all.
Just take a look at the suggestions forum or the bug reportings.

Sure it's their game and they can do whatever they like but imho they could at least communicate with their playerbase a bit more, ignoring people who ask legitimate questions is rude.
