Is there a way to find Pirate Activity USSs?

Having done a lot of engineering over the last few days (I'm talking more than a hundred modules), I could do with re-stocking all my manufactured mat's.

I realise I could farm HGEs and trade down but, frankly, I'd rather spend a bit of time having some yuks, blowing stuff up.

Is there a reliable tool (something like EDDB etc) for tracking Pirate Activity USSs, or a reliable in-game way of locating systems where they spawn?
Presumably, anarchy/low-sec systems with war/civil war etc?

+EDIT+

I see the wiki says they appear in systems in Lockdown, which is a bit odd 'cos I was seeing them in LHS 20 a few weeks ago and I don't think any faction there was in Lockdown.

have you tired consulting the crystal ball?

lockdown state was the best chance of finding pirate activity iirc

In systems that have "civil unrest" you will find mostly "pirate activity" from 5 to 7. the points are displayed under 1000 light seconds distance. Unfortunately, there are currently few systems with unrest.
These pirates, at least the Anaconda's drop G5 material. But beware .... they have pimped weapons. Try Deciat ;)

CNBs might be easier to find and more reliable. Plenty of Large Elites.
(or are you after the hunted, rather than the hunters)

I have a bunch of CNBs which I farm but recently they all seem to be littered with Elite Eagles and Cobras, which can be irritating without yielding decent amounts of mat's. :(

Blowing stuff up- I'll assume you mean deep core mining, when you arrive in the ring you're going to mine wait until they come and scan you- they will see nothing and leave and the won't come back again at all unless you leave the ring and return.

Lockdown or Civil Unrest on the controlling faction. Easy enough to find with galaxy map filters (though both are rare, Lockdown more so) ... EDDB can of course help find candidates.

Since bounty hunting improves the security slider, they have a tendency to be self-cancelling and you may need to move around a bit ... or do some murder and make your own, of course.

Well, 90 minutes in a handy HazRES got me a decent pile of stuff.
As usual, though, Conductive Ceramics are the bane of my existence, scoring a grand total of zero of those. :(

I don't pay enough attention to this stuff.
Are Belugas/Orcas a better source of Conductive Ceramics than combat ships?

I really enjoyed the TL7 Pirate USSs in LHS 20.
They were a ripe source of good mat's, right on my doorstep.

+EDIT+

Just checked properly after docking.
90 Minutes in a HazRES has pretty-much filled all of my G1-G4 mats roughly half way (some are at around 30% bu some are at almost 100%), including a heap of G4 Conductive Polymers and yet absolutely no G3 Conductive Ceramics.
Sometimes I think I did something to upset RNGesus.

I know I can get them from exploding something.
I guess some Belugas are going to have their day ruined later on.

If you found loads of Conductive Polymers in a Haz Res, then that's where I need to go!

The in game description says they appear from traders in anarchy. I spent all day there, and found 1 Conductive Polymer. Just 1. Lol

I came across Conductive Ceramics in CZs, but few and far between.
That’s my recollection as well. Also good for Hybrid Capacitors, Grid Resisters and Polymer Capacitors.

Think I’ve also seen Conductive Ceramics in Res sites, from larger ships. Might be misremembering.

There’s also the old “go to an Anarchy and blow up Convoys” option.

Heh,

Just spent half an hour blowing up Belugas in Pachanwen and got another 68 Conductive Polymers while, at the same time, collecting 24 Conductive Ceramics.... which, to be clear, I consider good going. 🤨

I was out at Robigo last weekend running passenger missions to Sirius Atmospherics, and a lot of those missions were offering biotech conductors as a reward, and they are at the top of that conductive material chain so you can trade them down for lots of conductive ceramics.

Yeah.

As I said, I've just spent a week faffing around with spreadsheets and engineering and moving ships and modules around the engineers like a giant game of 3D chess so I really just wanted to go and blow stuff up for a while. :p

In other news, the Krait that I built for the job is really, really good at it. :D

Oops, sorry @Stealthie, I completely forgot about that part of your OP!
Krait MK2?
