Well, this could've gone better

Use the guardian structures to shelter from the missiles if you have to - I'd recommend dleiberately triggering sentinels - then running back to a tunnel or archway and sniping them from range - they go down quite quick. They often won't even fire the missiles if you are undercover - also missiles will go for your ship rather than you in the srv if you can get the distance's right so you can use that to your advantage as well.

Finally relanded, , got away from ship, tureret/ weapons deploy, is this the 'Machine Orbital Orb' start point ? The site is very different lookong from the ground, having a hard time getting bearings. Also, am I supposed to scoop up the Guardian Tablet and other items strewn about ? Sorry for the dumb questions.

In quest of the Guardian FSD Booster blueprints I decided to give it a try. Got to the Guardian site without too much problem although parking was a , literally rough ground everywhere in close proximity. After searching for a while I finally found a spot, deployed my SRV and that's where things started to go wrong.
Having driven away from my ship, the turret of my SRV simply would not deploy, nor weapons fire. Take a look at the vid;

Somehow I triggered a Sentinel who began to hammer me, thnaksfully the point defense mounted on my ASP X worked. I decided it might be workable to kill the Sentinel shooting me from the ship, which I finally did with the ship pulse lasers though even that took longer than I'd expected;

Having now relaucnhed my ship I'll need to find a spot to re-land, launch my SRV and try and figure out what I'm doing wrong that won't allow the SRV to either fire or deploy the turret.

Any insights are very much welcome, so far the Guardian site isn't going that well.

Your not the only one experiencing this problem.. there is a major glitch in the system... and I fear if they don’t fix it soon it will bring Xbox platforms to a grinding halt!! I don’t think they clued into this yet..I am now experiencing problems firing my ship based weapons as well.. also handing in codex from missions is leading to the system freezing up..

I filed an issue report on this...but with the new voting system of how they work on issues before they action bugs...they will most likely lose more players than not... just from them getting frustrated and moving on..

But on the bright side for developers.. eventually this will lead to fewer reports being issued making the programmers look very good in managements eyes??

Who ever pulled this idea off of a good system to handle issues to upper management needs to be terminated to save investor losses in the company???

Each issue needs to be addressed somehow and issued a tracking number for quality control in the whole process????

Isn’t there a saying?? “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you!”

Wake Up People!!!

Never said they were useless, just unnecessary.
Missiles can be avoided easily with a little cover, don't do a lot of damage, rarely knock you about if you use the handbrake and really are not the big issue people make them out to be. Then they complicate situations as described by the op.

If you think I am promelgating ’git gud’, nope. I am really rubbish at combat, specially srv Combat, hell, I don't even use a turret most of the time. Never had any problems from sentinels.
What problems do they cause though? They are fairly light, cheap and effective - why not bring some with you? Sentinels can then pretty much be ignored. ;)

DBX is perfect for this. Smaller footprint than the AspX.

In concur with this, plus a 60ly jump range is easily obtainable with engineering and will get you out to the guardian sites much faster. Point Defense is very handy for this, like others have said. Not a must have but it will make your life easier when dealing with the Guardian Sentinels.

I have to verify this because I haven't done a guardian run in a while, but...

...if you carpet bomb the ruins with fixed missles you can charge the pylons and kill all the guardian skimmers in one fell swoop.

My guardian DBX has two medium fixed missle launchers and a large fixed burst laser with Short Range and the experimental that adds all the Jitter. The jittering burst laser is effectively a spray-and-pray for ground targets. PDs, explosive resistant shields, long jump, etc...

I usually go to the Guardian sites in a DBX fitted with a laser and a couple of dumbfire missile launchers.

If there's somebody else there you can activate the terminals for them and explode all the Sentinels. (y)

Also, yep. The DBX can park pretty much anywhere in the area.

Through sheer stupidity and dumb luck I now have the Guardian Relic ( and a Guardian tablet). What I don't have is all of the pylons charged, having probably run out of time again. But I do have the relic ( noticed I can't board my ship with it either).
Can I now go back to the machine area w/ the double pylons, hopefully ? Or do I have to recharge all pylons all ovwer again ?

... those Guardian Sentinels just hate those fixed dumb fire missiles... I just love poking the Sentinel nest with the SRV stick then trundling back to the ship for some low altitude rocketry fun..... excellent!

I usually park ~600m past the main Guardian structure where the blueprint is obtained. Then when 4 sentinels show up the pointe defense takes out their missiles. In other areas hide-n-seek plus the SRV brake takes care of missile hits. My ship location also gives me a map reference while searching the site. Of course bringing a friend to take out the sentinels in their ship while you run around in an SRV, then reversing roles, quickly takes care of Guardian sites.

Location of pylons.
View is from behind the 'machine'.

This. It gets easier once you know where all six are located - they're usually pretty much a mirror image (at least on the smaller sites). Get all the pylons up and then activate

The one that always irritated me was the site where one of the pylons is situated in a little hollow, off to the side, near the main gateway to the site.
For some reason, I could never find my way straight to that one.
I'd always drive up over the hill, trundle around a bit and then, eventually, find the hollow with the pylon in it.

Just sayin....
