That is great and all, but can anyone tell me one single incentive besides "meeting people" that would make we want to play in open-online?
If that's not enough for you, then probably not.

Nope. But then, that's why you have the choice. If playing the game with others is your thing, play open. If not, but you still want the dynamically changing galaxy, play solo. If you want a world that's all about you, or if you just hate needing an internet connection to play (which is reasonable if you have no use for the online features), play offline. That is great and all, but can anyone tell me one single incentive besides "meeting people" that would make we want to play in open-online?
One reason I actually thought would make great sense to play in open-online was to have missions or some type of shared objective which would be much easier when playing in an open-online group. I am not sure if Frontier has anything like this in mind, but I think it would at least offer some incentive for being in open-online. I honestly believe unless something is offered, I will probably stay mostly in solo-online, which would be so weird to me, knowing we could all be in open-online enjoying ourselves trying to accomplish something together. What that "something" is or could be, I have not heard of yet. Currently, I just don't see the incentive versus the risks of being in open-online. It does not make sense to me.
it is the biggest game design bug ever
I will be happy the day when they fix it and throw out all the modes make it online only, plus maybe a strict offline version with limited features and NO WAY to transfer offline character.
it is gamebreaking cheating and exploiting
like i said, then "multiple chars" have to go too...for the same reasons.
I believe there was some talk about group missions in one of the interviews David Braben gave recently (might've been the EGX one, or possibly the Lave Radio interview - check them out), but I don't remember any concrete info on it other than it being something they were considering. One reason I actually thought would make great sense to play in open-online was to have missions or some type of shared objective which would be much easier when playing in an open-online group. How exactly is it cheating if everyone has the same options? This isn't call of duty... This is an open ended simulator. If I want to do trade runs in my Type 9 without the risk of being rammed by some noob then that it is my choice to use solo online.
but it is not realistic it is gamey and game is giving chicken out options, is breaking everything making multiplay worth less.
don't like a sitution just flip a switch, problem solved?
bad! Please delete this feature, Fronter
make the game cool![]()
Sorry to say that I'm happy with the direction that FD have chosen and the only constructive comment I can make is to suggest you read any of the many threads there are on the topic already.
David Braben said recently (at EGX?) that it would be very unlikely if a player would meet another in a galaxy as big as ED. !
