Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Notable stellar phenomena...molluscs and such like. And the spiky things that go with them. You can't interact with the spikes,(except head on,not advisable :)),but the molluscs sometimes exhibit unusual behaviour, according to stimuli.
As far as i know, though, shooting them has no result, although i haven't tried this myself to be sure.
Regarding NSP's:

A while back, while going (2*) 5000 ly to unlock Palin, I had just picked an arbitrary system that was a little over 5000 ly away (not 4999!). When arriving at the system I looked at the nav panel, and found these:

135065

When you approach them they rotate and face towards you. It could be some sort of physical force like magnetism, but they also change color so I think they are somewhat conscious. To have the pod in the angle I wanted for the image, I used the Conda's long nose to poke it a little, but if you poke them to much they seem to damage your ship. Maybe it's just because they're big and heavy with a hard shell, but I couldn't really tell. It could also be some sort of defense mechanism. They look squishy but it's a cold place where they live, so the surface is probably hard as steel. For that to be settled I need more data ;)

Edit: You can move the spiky thingies by pushing them gently with your ship, but they loose their momentum again, probably due to friction with the cloud they're in. It seems quite dense.

I need 21 Guardian Technology Components for the FSD booster I want ....... Does that mean I have to go back to the Ancient Structure and have my nerves rattled again to shoot some panels and get some more stuff? Can I just go and buy some somewhere?
.......
Whilst I am at it, what data pattern does the FSD booster require? I have at least three of all of them except Epsilon.
.....

Tech Components: Just shoot the destructible panels - you might need to re-log several times to get enough. You can't buy them or trade them you have to gather them.

No data pattern needed:

I decided to fulfill an old promise I made to Verity (my old Mamba), and plotted a route towards Sag A*. Left an hour ago and I'm already 5.500 ly from the Bubble. I dropped the neutron highway, because galaxy map and VR... While I KGBFOAM jump/scoop/repeat, I listen to an audiobook, A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. Escapism at it's very best ;)

Good book! Enjoy the trip (y)
Edit: Make that 3300 ly in the first hour 🤫

And thanks. So far everything is a-ok, but I forgot to check my hull at the advances maintenance before i left... It's a lot of supercruise and jumps.

Good luck. Halfway back to the bubble after my Sag A/Colonia triangular trip. 11000 ly to go, 550 jumps remaining. Maybe a week of play, given my lifestyle. Avoid the hydrogen headbutts throwing you out of supercruise because thats where the damage happens. Weirdest thing was trying to dock after being out in the black for so long - all that exploration data hinging on not scrooing that aspect up. I could feel my heart in my chest as I was crossing the toast rack in Jaques....

edit - I'm reading Bernard Cornwell's 'The Bloody Ground' in between jumps on my phone, the last in the Starbuck series of the American Civil War, focusing on the Antietam Creek battle. The amount of times I've had to drop the phone and pull hard back on the pitch at the last moment.....

Now 8.000 ly away from the Bubble that I left earlier today. With a little luck I can get there in one day. No hurry though. There are some pretty sights on the way. Most noticeably the star density increases and the galaxy is becoming bright even when I look away from the galactic core.

Using VR I can't "read" on the way, but the audiobook works excellent. Like having a story told as a kid. Not honking, just travelling. The jump Conda would have been twice as far, but the cockpit in the Mamba is unrivaled for VR.

Does anyone know if there are any gas stations selling ice cream on the way? I forgot those ;)

Oh gawd :D Thanks for the confirmation though :)

I found driving around the ruins in the dark somewhat unpleasant and hard to orientate, the Night Vision doesn't like my eyes too much. I gather that the site is sometimes in daylight, so maybe I might look at the rotation period and work out what time of Earth Day it would be light there :)

I believe some of the panels on the structures (not towers) always drop the same stuff.
Maybe.

I'm still making my way back to the Bubble, very slowly indeed. There are just so many interesting systems, thanks to the new scanning tools. I'm finding so many geo and bio sites and I can't help but map those moons because there are many things I haven't seen yet. The only disappointment has been that, so far, all the bio sites have been bark mounds.

I believe non-bark mound bio's only exist in blue star systems. Check rocky bodies in such for the more rare varieties, though they're not as pretty as the luminescent ones on HMC's.

Useful to know, but hasn't helped today - I've been through a bunch of A-class stars and found no bios at all. Lots of geo, though. Unless they need O or B class - haven't jumped into one of those in quite a while.

Funny of the day was jumping into a system with 'discovered' tags - haven't seen one in more than 500 jumps. At first I was surprised, and then I was outraged... these are my stars out here. Danged claimjumpers!

From the FleetCom Discord channel last week; this has panned out for me:

[To find anenomes] You have to find a B star with I, II or III luminosity class
Metal-Rich will always have bioluminescent
[Rare] Roseus, Crocceus, and Luteus can be found on Rocky-Icy
All 8 types are almost exclusively linked to the luminosity class
And they need to be on a planet with more than 450k temperature

I wish Bark Mounds followed some sort of a pattern, so I knew how to avoid the damn things.

Bark Mounds will be in every A/B/O star if they are near a nebula

Re. the OT:

I just spent two days sorting out the engineering on one of my accounts. It had an awful lot of legacy mods (who knew?) and so I had to trail around various engineers, transferring weapons and modules and getting things into some semblance of order.

Now I need to replenish materials. Well that account can fester for a while, time to progress my exploraconda's continuing journey post the DW2 expedition.
