Just think commanders we're already about a year or so away from the 2020 release.

I can't wait to run around my fleet carrier blasting Thargoid scum with my fellow commanders whilst I look our onto the exploding volcanoes or changing ice storms on the planet below out of the big view screen window :)

It will be like the Guardians or Thargoids.

Exciting during the release and for a while after, but then business as usual.

I like business as usual, but I always think what it would be like if they had a Community Management team that were actually engaged in the game and had some real authority.

“Let’s give open only PowerPlay a two month trial - call it s season”

“Let’s wrote some lore that reflects the in-game realities”

“Let’s pick a side and make life hard for our enemies”

“Let’s make some Alts and join some opposing groups”

“Let’s make a competitive PvP team”

“Let’s make some stuff really hard for noobs”

“Let’s find out how HIP 30661 ended up like that”

“Let’s take one of the abandoned GalNet stories and make a real thing out of it.”

“Let’s have INRA come back with new awesome weaponry that quietly over weeks corrodes your hull”

“Let’s give the players a way to leave messages on a beacon and see what games they come up with”

“Let’s make illegal rares illegal again”

“Let’s make some rares have super value spikes at certain stations in certain states”

“Let’s make outbreak really easy to spread by trade.”

“Let’s make slavery super illegal for a month. Send ATR after anyone with slaves.”

“Let’s make route plotting a thing again and introduce jump range decay. First the guardian FSDs go then the engineering. Over a four month period, average Jump ranges reduce to 15 Ly. Isolating communities and individuals. Making traversing the arms difficult.”

“Thargoids attacks on Engineers”

“Collapse and removal of a PowerPlay faction”

“Let’s have a sniff through the suggestions forum, maybe even make a few posts”

“Let’s have another look at CMDR ToCoSo’s portfolio on imgur.”

Yeah now + 1 year is prime time because the best play of the release is the weeks leading up to it.

Once it comes out you just look to see what it is, end up shrugging your shoulders, maybe a sigh, and go back to playing.

Im not being sarcastic that's how it is.

The exception being new ships.... those get an insta jump to shinrata and a visit to that moon with the rings on it (or the really glum planet 1).

Also, for the record, i think its about time combat players got a taste of the refinement medicine. I don't think explorers can handle any more "at this time". I think a pain and misery extension to crime and punishment is well due :)

A year "or so" might be optimistic. If the leak is to be trusted (and honestly, if not confirmed it's been at least corroborated by several recent annoucements) we're looking at a Q4 release window. So might easlily be first or second week of December 2020.

You'd think they'd at least anticipate something that might be coming this year, as minor as it will be.

Lavecon is in a couple of weeks, that might be a chance. (even tho, remember that at last year's Lavecon they showed previews of the new Icy Planets tech -- a year later, they're not even confirmed yet)

Res sites could be much better. They have already made Combat zones much better then what they were before.

As to explorers, which explorers do you mean? I can see exploration continue to get updates as the game moves forward. No pain and misery from this explorer and many other explorers too.

Crime and Punishment certainly needs an overhaul. If the next expansion is space legs, having the bounty on your ship will make no logical sense at all. It will need to be changed yet again. Bounty should be on the person, notoriety should be on the ship in my view. It would make better sense that way too and work with space legs.

I've already wasted too much of my life being excited for the "next update" to ED, starting with 2.4. Frontier has slowly and systematically destroyed that excitement with every update released since.

I'm much more excited for the new consoles and new games coming in 2020. 🤷‍♂️

My hope this is due to a huge change in the game's design team and design ethos! And therefore what we get end of next year could be a solid bar raising development, rather than akin to so many designs we've seen over the past three or so years which have been questionable and/or half-baked.

Are you sure? I heard there was queue behind the powerplay and multicrew folks anyway so its not going to be in this generation.

Pain and misery i meant as the bonus series for crime and punishment. The names are on topic, see!
