It's time for an Anaconda competitor

Here's a Ferrari SUV. If Ferrari can make an SUV, I guess Core Dynamics wouldn't be committing sacrilege if they came out with a lightweight hull Corvette with Anaconda range. You need to find valid similes.

Porsche Cayenne/Macan, Lamborghini Urus and Maserati Levante. SUVs from traditionally sports car makers.
Aston Martin Rapide, Porsche Panamera.

Basically anyone can make anything.
So an exploration Corvette..... and :sneaky: the Anaconda..... can exist.

Someone can always make an excellent product out of the blue.
The balance purists just need to take a chill pill....

I would love an Elite: Dangerous version of the Imperial Trader;-

Could even be used as a tribute to Paul Darrow (because it looks very Liberator like).

Have not read through the whole thread so this may have been said more than once.

Imperial Trader = Imperial Cutter

Re: The Anaconda.

I would not be opposed to it being brought in line with other ships. But there would need to be a long period of notice. And the change might only happen 'when you next dock' after that period of notice.

Re: Large explorer.

Imperial aesthetics are not universally liked. Also some people have awful taste (have you seen how many Cutters have simply awful fins and other crap added? It like they are being flown by 12 year olds).

But whatever it would look like, no new high max jump range. The galaxy needs to stay big.

Coyote, it certainly won't come from your hair splitting, have a nice day, I won't be responding to your pointless comments further, you're on my ignore list.
Because I pointed out that you misread my original post? That's really immature of you I think. Instead of threatening to put me on ignore you could just admit you made a mistake and that we just won't come to agreement on this topic. You know.....like an adult. Which is totally fine btw. Not everyone is gonna agree on everything all the time. But by putting people on ignore when you disagree with them you are just doing a disservice to yourself and limiting the scope of your discussions. And hiding behind made up excuses like "hairsplitting" (which is not what I did at all) just makes you seem a bit petty. If you wanna put me on ignore because you don't like that I pointed out your mistake then by all means do it, but don't invent excuses for yourself to be able to do it in order to pretend that it's justified.

Um, sorry to break up your fight, but Ferrari do make minivans... Not under the Ferrari brand of course, but they do share facilities with the rest of the Fiat Chrysler group.

That said, I would not be surprised if Core Dynamics, Faulcon de Lacy and others build under license too. And Gutamaya are more than obviously a luxury brand for Saud Kruger.

As a matter of fact, there is a high probability that they are indeed being flown by 12 year olds

Yep, definitely the simplest way would be that hull weight change, but I wonder what would happen to the people who have ventured out into the black in their annies and would lose their jump range and get stranded in the worst case :p

Another simple way would be to just balance everything else to the anaconda weight under the hood, but leave the numbers we see on the ui the same. Don't think anyone would mind having a longer jump range :D

To be a bit more serious, I've already suggested a reasonable solution.

Let's take a look at "the big three", in standard trim, to see how things stack up with light alloy hulls.

Anaconda: Hull 400t / Integrity 945
Corvette: Hull 900t / Integrity 666
Cutter: Hull 1100t / Integrity 720

The Corvette and the Cutter have integrity of roughly 0.7 per tonne.
The Annie, OTOH, has integrity of around 2.4 per tonne.
The Annie's hull is 3x tougher than anything the Federation or Empire can produce.

More reasonably, the Annie's integrity should be around 270 - with a light alloy hull.

That's the first change FDev should make.
Simply reduce the Annie's integrity to around 270.
That's probably not going to affect anybody who's out exploring because it won't change the weight of their ship (given that an exploration ship is likely to be fitted with a light-alloy hull) and the integrity nerf won't matter, anyway, 'cos their hulls are probably already at 0% integrity after any time exploring.

Now let's look at upgraded hulls.

Anaconda: MGC Hull 460t / Integrity 1838
Corvette: MGC Hull 960 / Integrity 1295
Cutter: MGC Hull 1160 / Integrity 1400

The Corvette & Cutter now have integrity of around 1.25 per tonne.
The Annie now has integrity of 3.99 per tonne.

The second change FDev should make is to increase the weight of the upgraded hulls for the Annie to make the overall hull-weight similar to it's competitors.
Make the Reinforced alloy hull weigh around, say, 250t and increase the ship's integrity to roughly 900 and make the MGC hull weigh around 400t and increase the integrity to, say, 1200.

It'll never happen, of course, but maybe it's worth pointing out that there ARE ways to fix it.

I'd just like a civilian version of the Anaconda, one that looks a bit less like a battle ship with a lithium ion battery pack shoved in the bottom. Same ship but with some fine upholstery, cables not actually laying out in the floor and some teak wood trim and a big blue winged angel on the bow.

Destroy it, respawn them in bubble, explo data is retained. My suggestion.
