Would you buy an ED single player spin-off like Squadron 42?

True, you replied to IamMe who complained of lack of new compelling gameplay
I was referring to the part where IamMe said FDEV wasted their time with the updates, which isn't true in my opinion because the game is in a way better state than it was back in 2014. That's because of thousand improvements that have been made to the game.

I wouldn't care for space legs if route plotting was still limited to 100ly.

Compared to what?
Compared to every other game with ongoing development i played.....
I know you are protective toward ED, i like ED too and hope for the best but let's be real.....FD gave it a minimun since 2.0.
There were devs moving from ED to other titles cos experienced devs on Cobra engine was needed, new devs were hired on ED, devs that were junior developers learning it's engine and that takes time.
That's how it works when you have inhouse game engine!

Well I expected some examples. What other self published, no free to play, no subscription games with free content updates do you know which perform significantly better than ED? I am sure there will be a few, but in my opinion ED is way above the standard compared to similar games.

Studio with 1/50 manpower FD have yet they develop new tech and expansion/standalone game every 2 years with much more complicated game physics and details.
If FD had 100senior devs working on ED we'd have legs and basic atmos by now i'm sure.
FD did excellent from business side, in fact they did perfect!
Give as much you can give with as little manpower to keep backers calm while you make money from other titles.
There you have popup screen minigame, tons of bugs, unfinished multicrew, delay on planet surface and fleet carriers.

I'd rather they did 1/3rd but done it right and fleshed out, for example implement FSS into ships HUD and that is hell a lot of a job and skill required.
FD was sneaky with playerbase, but that's past now and we'll see what 2020 will bring.....i finally believe it will be good!

I agree. Fdev in the last 3 years did enough to keep the game alive and invested development on other titles. Take a look at planet zoo.. The level of detail is incredible. They really put a lot of effort in that franchise and I can't imagine where ED would be now if that manpower would have been used for ED instead

Planet Zoo seems to have pretty good models and animations. So Elite would probably have better animations and models. That wouldn't improve the game at all considering you are mostly interested in engaging new gameplay. Models in Elite are already pretty good anyway. Just take a look at the detail in our cockpits.

Oh no, I've seen the gameplay video and there's actually a lot to do in that game. Unfortunately I'm not very interested in Management gamestyle but I can imagine that people that like that kind of game will find it awesome.

This should be part of the main-game. It should be one integrated seamless experience. I'd buy it as a DLC or expansion.

If they would place it into the existing game, hell yes!

To be honest, I'll buy any paid update they release. I just want them to stay funded so elite continues to grow into the one-day ultimate space game.

Sadly I'm in the lifetime subscription group so they won't get any more from me. Maybe I'll buy the next update for a friend to keep chipping in!

You can always buy a second licence of the game so you have to pay for the future content for your alternate account

Is anyone else fed up of FD investing in anything but ED. Videos like this make ED look like it's been developed on a pound shop budget.

I know, right? Why can't FDev dedicate two years or more to focus on a mega expansion for Elite Dangerous for a change? It's so unfair, sheesh.

How many years have gone by already? How much money has been siphoned off from ED to fund other games that get more love than the game that paid all of their dev costs. The same game that was crowd funded I might add...

The syphoning off of money (and dev time) is only a problem if there is some perceived shortfall in the stuff produced for ED. If it were to receive mediocre new features, or if the DLC release plan were to change from a seasonal approach to completed releases after lifetime passes were sold for example. Or if they just went silent when pre-paying customers chase up progress for four years and have only a distant vague deadline for their contribution.

So depending on the individuals perspective it could be argued that there's no problem at all ;)

But that's not why I wouldn't be interested in a scripted game. I just don't play those kind of games.
