Yes, a reminder in the mail an hour before it starts would be cool.
This isn't directed at the OP but for what it's worth (and I know NeilF, tireless maintainer of the "subscribe to be notified of livestreams thread", has a pet peeve about this too) I really have to point out that there's a livestream at the same time EVERY Thursday evening so I've kinda run out of sympathy for people complaining that FD don't do enough to let them know about it. Also, there was a forum thread about tonight's Discovery Scanner posted last Friday so there's been a whole week to find out about this.
Yes I saw the thread, but that was a week ago. Many things happen in a week and I am old. I forget stuff.
.I get reminders for other events too. From UBI for example.
I am not interested in weekly 'devs playing the game' events.
But stuff like this... 'designing a ship, creating a planet, the background sim', etc. etc. is something special I think.
For stuff like that an email reminder would be awesome.
This is a really old grief of mine.
I don't do social media so except the forum and an occasional OA video I have no outside information about the game.
When I asked the devs to announce live streams and happenings here instead (or at least as well as on) Twitter, I was basically told that nobody cares. This forum isn't for relaying official info. shruggs

The issue isn't that it wasn't posted on the forums but that you decided not to read it. Not using Twitter or Facebook myself but I do occasionally check the news section in this forum.
The forum announcement has been linked in this thread by the way, that should give you an idea about the amount of attention you are paying to these things...
