Are you bored of this game? Nobody to play with? Join a decent squadron! What are you waiting for?

What are these "people" you speak of?

When I want to play a game with other people, I fire up Overwatch or Fortnite or DCUO or [insert typical multiplayer game], and the game will put me in a match with dozens if not hundreds of other players in under a minute. I don't need Discord and INARA and a specific time and date on the calendar, I just fire up the game and play. The closest thing Elite has to this is the CG, where I might be able to join a wing in a HazRes for some mindless bounty fishing. These days I find this more boring than playing solo (which is different than playing IN Solo).

Oh, and there is CQC, but it's dead and not my thing.

I get what you are saying. For people with the time and flexibility and friends who play Elite to set up their own 'matches', I'm sure this is fun. But for many of us, it is nontrivial and ultimately not worth the hassle.
And how many of those you meet more than once and know them by their real name?

I must agree that being a part of a squadron adds a lot of spice to it. I'm something of an antisocial introvert myself but I have been part of an inactive player group for a long time. I had to be the one to start the squadron when that feature became available because others were so disinterested. However, in the last few weeks I got into making our Player Minor Faction group great again with another player and things kicked into high gear. We were planning what to support and where. Other players, seeing the flurry of discussion in our discord, started ambling in. And poor me, being thrust in leadership position and getting involved with diplomacy with powers.

I joined GARD back just before Squadrons came out.

Before that, my will to play was failing, and only the update was keeping me interested, I'd just come back from a break playing a load of other games, and was struggling to keep interested. I was more or less about to quit when I saw Ashes advert to join, and promptly, without really reading anything, dived in!

And to be honest, that decision saved ED for me, and potentially saved me from buying another game, so hey, GARD saved me money. Woot!

Being in a Squadron, even as the mostly lone ranger I am, has been brilliant.
I wouldn't have dreamed of getting in to the BGS or PvP before.
The BGS still makes very little sense, but I'm learning, and even triggered a full scale inter-squadron war entirely because I wanted CZ materials from a system with a cool name.
So yes, @DNA-Decay , the Battle For Helios was entirely my fault, and probably the best war I've ever fought in. 😁

With the help from GARD, I've also gotten in to PvP! Something I could never do alone, and I've even been promoted!

And most of all, it's been hilarious, non stop banter, jokes, messing around, fighting, and racing.

I couldn't recommend joining any squadron highly enough! It's a total game changer.

And, the best bit for you guys, is I now run my thousands of ideas past them, before posting it here, so it's like a filter on my brain. :ROFLMAO:

I confess this is where it starts to get into 'tempting' territory. PVP doesn't really interest me, but I'm wondering if that's at least partly down to an experience hump I need to get over. A bit like seafood.
I wasn't in to PvP at all before, because I lacked skill, engineering talent, and materials, and I knew I'd be incapable of doing it alone.
But now I have the best theorycrafters to check my builds, and help me build them.
I've also learned to just do it myself!
Plus I have friends to practice with, and wing up with for live fire exercises.

I even got my first solo kill the other week.
(Followed by being blown up 3-4 times. Lol)
You just need to be prepared to lose a lot to begin with.

What if I'm an antisocial, introvert, very casual and infrequently playing with patologic shyness on the border of social anxiety CMDR?

If that's the case then squadron; Gnosis (GNSS) is for you!

Our operation is small, informal and we have commanders both travelling with the megaship and beyond, mixing it up with security, mining, geological and xeno exploration with ad hoc wing ups to suit your mood.

I also have a ton of bootleg liquor stored permanently in my cargo rack, if that helps.

We've all been there...
Did you know that, in Colonia, a tiny (rebel) squadron - Loren's Reapers (in Carcosa) are busy bringing all of the benefits of anarchy (yes - benefits) to the system? If you have 4 key engineers in the bubble at G4 all of ours are open to you and just a couple of jumps between all - and we are being challenged for control of our home... If you fancy a change a warm welcome awaits :)

My one experience with a player group led to me getting thrown out for not being serious enough, so I've kind of got a bitter taste in my mouth about it.
I'm basically too fickle for long-term allegiances, which is the main reason I don't actually want to do Powerplay or any of the 'warring' squadrons.
Join the Résistance. You can always fake to be on underground secret mission while reclining at the beautiful Riviera of The People's Paradise.

Well, we wanna be free, we wanna be free to do what we wanna do
We wanna be free to ride. We wanna be free to ride our machines without being hassled by the man.
And we wanna get loaded and we wanna have a good time
And that's what we're gonna do (away baby, let's go)
We're gonna have a good time, we're gonna have a party!

Perhaps I can ask this here as we’re talking Squadrons? Apologies if it’s deemed the wrong place, I can always start a separate thread.

I’m looking for a little help with PvP. I’ve never done any, in fact until recently I spent most of my time in Mobius but got bored (and lonely) so moved to Open.

I’ve got a few ships that I’ve worked on to live in Open that will either hopefully survive and cause some issues, should a decent pilot fly them, or simply outrun and disappear. I’m curious about PvP but don’t know whether it will actually be for me or not but I’d like to learn and certainly about ship builds for fighting and survivability plus the tactics used.

One issue I have is that I prefer to play in VR so Comms typing is a pain and no-one seems to use Voice Comms. My only experience of Voice Comms whilst playing was using Discord during DW2 at the initial jump and there were so many people chattering away I found it unusable (though I realise that isn’t the best experience of Discord Comms to form an opinion from.)

Would anyone know of a suitable squadron? Ashenfox - would I be a suitable candidate for GARD?
