The bugs.

Elite Dangerous is the buggiest, most broken game I own. The bugs have ruined the game for me, which I cannot say about any other game in my collection.
Apologies for some of my previous comments. Sounds like the port to the PS4 is a disaster. Looks like I am lucky that Sony p@#$ed me off years ago with a selection of games for the PS2 that was not up to what was available for the XBox (Halo, Doom 3 etc) and I have been an Xbox man ever since.I was never let down by the 360 (played it right up 'til I got the 1X last year!) and I am loving the 1X, and just really glad the 1X version of ED plays incredibly well. Really sorry for the PS4 owners, but as Duck says, it does handle other games remarkably well so that hopefully is some compensation for the dreadful ED port.

How is a 5 year old game in such a mess? Thargoid stuff is a state now as well. Seriously, why are the devs finding it so hard just to fulfil basic maintenance on a game that's had YEARS to become stable.
Because they add more content instead of fixing bugs. However, all additional content is devalued as long as old persistent bugs remain, the devalue factor increases with bug age and impact.

I really wanna like Elite and actively play it but the bugs prevent me from doing so. The fighter lag bug ruined a scenario for a new mate and me. I am so limited in my gameplay choices because of bugs. It's such a shame.

That's a whole load of baloney!!
I play ESO nightly and I can login for hours on end playing with hundreds of people in the same instance and not see one problem. I can play hundreds of class combination with thousands of gears items and not see a problem. I can group and playing hundreds of dungeons with varying level difficulties and not see a problem.

For sure, there are bugs, but, in the main, the game works and people flock to it.

Elite is and always has been a bug fest. Untested releases with no quality control. Bugs existing for seemingly forever.

You simply cannot compare a AAA title like ESO to a kickstarter-backed beta game like Elite.

Meanwhile they are working on the next big [male-chicken] up.

ROFLMAO!
Last night I threw some money at ESO for one of the chapters that I haven't yet played, instead of giving it to Frontier.

It's so well known for its more stability, devs that listens to the community, very few bugs and it's not doomed like Elite dangerous....

I can't log in, so ironically I'm going back to Elite for the rest of night.

I've played ESO a fair amount and had very few issues. Currently I can't do my primary role in ED due to a game crashing issue they haven't even bothered to acknowledge yet.

Having played ESO since beta, and Elite since alpha — I would have to say they are more or less equally broken. What one lacks in bugs/stability, the other makes up for in a different area.

My biggest problem with ESO was the notorious recurring failure of the launcher, which would constantly ask to repair (verify) the game files, and then get stuck in the progress bar. I quit the game for half a year at one point.
Lesser stuff is like 3-4 year old finished quests not being marked as finished, and things like my greatsword turning invisible, or my character holding my restoration staff like riding a stick.

I concur about the visual silly stuff. What i'm referring to in ED is more critical. Game crashing. Missions types totally bugged. Etc.

It varies from person to person, the last "critical" bug I had in Elite was when players exiting multi-crew would get stuck in the session report screen, even after loggin in. Couldn't play for 2-3 days.
What I said about ESO's launcher was critical for several months in my case. I spent many days over the course of weeks going through the file verification (which took over an hour), only for it fail and start back over.

Both games have more or less similar server/login issues. Although, I find myself getting back into elite on the same day — eso, it tends to be the day after.

So let me get this straight. You tried to login, couldn't because of an issue last last night, so then went tot he store to buy a DLC, couldn't login again and came here to demonstrate to me, how bad ESO is, and how good Elite is.

On your bike mate, peddle that manure to someone else.

I bought a DLC sunday evening, played just fine — monday evening the same old, same old login problem.
ESO is as notoriously known for longterm bugs as any other online game, anyone who has played it for any length of time knows that. (Or just spend 5 minutes on their forums)

I also didn't say anything about how good, or bad Elite was. It was simply working, so I played it instead.

I don't have a bike, but I'm always willing to peddle the manure of bugs in the few games I play — which happens to include ESO and Elite.

Whatever... Comparing an MMO like ESO to a mmo like Elite is just being disingenuous. Elite is just not an MMO by any stretch of the imagination.

some of the bugs didnt have a good enough sob back story to make it through to the final of the X factor, i mean issue tracker

i mean the gimballed weapons showing the fixed weapon icon has an aunt missing in the Aussie outback and tiny timothy wont make Christmas so its important to fix.

then there is the "broken sky box" although impossibel to fix without regenerating the entire galaxy its mother only has one leg and its father was a hamster so it gets the votes.

You are the one bringing up the term "MMO". I didn't, because I don't think of Elite as MMO either — so whether you like it or not, we are in full agreement on that.

But the simple fact is that they are both games that receive constant updates over the years — Updates which break existing stuff.

:) if You have time for other games - well IMHO you are no hardcore ED-Player laugh

I used to be, until Frontier broke the game. This is why some of my older games like Uncharted 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn remain unfinished - I was playing these up until Elite dropped on PS4, and then all other games took a back burner while I flew spaceships during every free (non-work) second. But then our first major update dropped (2.4) and that was the beginning of the end...
