Some of us like to have alternative accounts to be able to do different things at once.
And some of us also actually like Elite and don't mind giving FD ten quid or so, once in a while.

Nothing wrong with have multiple characters. The fact you have to buy an entire new copy of the game and expansion just to get a 2 character slot is insane. Makes Konomi's $5 per character slot on MGS look reasonable.

Can't think of too many mmo games that dont allow at least a 2nd character slot.

That's true, of course. And I'd be totally up for multiple commanders on one account.
I was just saying that with the perpetual price drops it really isn't that big of an issue if you're willing to throw some change at the devs from time to time.

You're of course free to not do that if you are unhappy with the game.

One of them is for console.

Yeah good point im a chump. Its a really valid point. Its one of those things you take with you.. i think if anything it just raises the bar of goodwill frontier need to earn before you spend money on other things at them.

And if it wasn't so cheap i typically have a huge bone to pick about it, see my posts in GD on the topic Its basically a 50% discount on a discount already greater than they offer on steam, so.. could be worse.
