Possibility of more decor items?

What do you think is the likelihood we will get more decor items in future updates/dlc? Although I would really like new things like pathway decorations (streetlights, signs etc) or new nature decor (fallen logs, skeletons), I wouldnt mind more of what we currently have (rocks, trees). I just really hope that they give us more in the future because it really made a huge difference adding what we got in this last update.

People keep asking for this stuff but this isn't Planet Coaster. Having to place all these game items with a controller would be really tedious. There is a reason why the game lacks these things and why stuff just automatically appears. It's cause these types of games are terrible with controllers. So everything is simplified for consoles.

I'd be perfectly happy with signs you can place on/by paddocks (make signs available for every dinosaur in the game), light poles/lamps, fountains, benches. Doesn't seem like too much to ask for.

Ya I feel like signs/billboards could go a long way. If they gave us two or three signs/billboards but allowed us to put custom images on them it would go even farther because then people could upload their own dino info graphics, custom made maps of their islands, and more. I know planet zoo will have a thing where you can place signs and it will automatically detect what animals are in the enclosure which I could see being added to this game considering how the JT/gyrosphere speaker works but custom signs would be one of the best things they could give us.

Yes, the Devs think it's okay to place trees and rocks, but not decorative objects. claps slowly

Have you ever played Cities Skylines on the Xbox? It's by far the deepest management sandbox sim on console, and there's pretty much no limit to what you can individually place or create with the tools provided. None of it I'm afraid, is a pain to do with a controller. More and more builders and sim games are coming to console after numerous Devs have destroyed the lazy myth that "it doesn't work on a controller".

On a side note, don't forget that all Devs can now enable official keyboard and mouse support for their Xbox titles, if they care to do so.

I mean its a park sim, having things to decorate your park is a huge part of the genre. If we aren't supposed to be creating interesting parks to put our dinosaurs in then what is even the point of this game? We have all these amazing looking dinosaur models and prior to the free update that came with the claire dearing dlc all of the parks looked exactly the same. Now with new terrain tools and decorations we can really make our parks unique and interesting and the more we add to that the better this game will be. I would even say that adding more terrain tools and decor is far more important than adding new dinos or even gameplay at this point.

Have you ever wondered why there are only so many trees and rocks? That you can't make a pile of rocks yourself but they come in little premade piles? That's because it would be terrible doing it with a controller.

They have always ported these kinds of games to consoles and they are all terrible because of the controller. I know cause I have played some of them. Sim City on the SNES DS and PlayStation Theme Hospital on the PS Vita. They are all terrible on consoles. Especially if it's a straight port that doesn't take the controller into account. I play City Skylines on my PC. I have never played it on a console. I imagine it's terrible. Just because you can tolerate it doesn't mean it's good or that other people will like it. I am sure if played I would find it to be awful. I even tried this game with a 360 controller hooked up to my PC and while it wasn't terrible it also wasn't very good.

They can enable mouse and keyboard support if they choose to do and only on the Xbox One. What about the PS4?

So totally true, I won't ever understand why people keep asking for more dinosaurs at this point. Just half a dozen trees and rocks (and not the best looking of them all either) made soo much more for the game than any pack of dozens of new species...

Still, I think they didn't create JWE as a park sim, as they should have done, precisely because of console limits. And that was the biggest failure and the source of all design flaws, I'm afraid. I hope they learn for the next installment, if there is indeed a JWE2 planned.

That is why since release its been my top most wanted feature to be added/worked on. Adding new dinos, giving the dinos better AI or even adding new game modes can only go so far as to improving the game where as adding more tools and decor for us to use makes a huge difference since it expands our creative power and what we as players can do to our parks.

Officially on the wikipedia for JWE this game is meant to be a business simulator...so the business of running a park am I correct? It certainly isn't a dinosaur simulator like The Isle or whatever its called and it isnt a disaster simulator either despite that being a part of the gameplay. If anything the business side of the gameplay is the most neglected part of the game and needs to be next on the list. We have like maybe six buildings for guests to use in which all we can do is max out prices and make sure they are right next to a hotel entrance. Sadly this huge hole in the game will probably be ignored and put on the back burner because people are more concerned with stuff like dinosaur sizing or sleeping. Stuff that are nice little QoL fixes but do not add anything new for us to do.

Idk what to tell you, your main qualm is that using a controller for this game is not optimal so everything needs to be bottle necked around that aspect because people choose not use a keyboard on xbox or whatever platform. It isnt even a matter that the platform can't handle having more decor or terrain tools but simply that some people find it too inconvenient to use with their preferred input device so therefore it isnt worth adding more. It's not like you even HAVE to use any of these features, they are there if you want to use them.

Yeah, I disagreed about dinosaur AI because initially there was NONE. Now that they have implemented some basic stuff I could agree some other areas might be worth looking at, although let's not fool ourselves: dinosaur AI is still far from acceptable. Until they fix clipping, herd and sleeping mechanics and implement pack hunting, JWE will not live up to JPOG on that points and that's pretty lame.

About the game's gender, I had the very confusion, the bigger the more time it passed. But yeah, all that input talk is nothing more than another reason for going PC only. That's the only way to actually have a great game, sadly.

The problem is that not everyone uses an xbox to play this game or a PC. There are more PS4's in peoples homes than Xbox Ones. The other issue is if they put a lot of placeable items in this game then all people will do is whine and complain about how it's terrible to place all those items with a controller and they will demand that Frontier fix it. Like people whine and complain now and demand that things be fixed.

Just because you can tolerate using a controller doesn't mean everyone will. I don't see what is so hard to understand about that. Frontier isn't making the game just for you. They have to sell the game to a wide audience to make money.

They are also a professional game development studio so I am sure they know what they are doing and they know what I have already explained. That have to use a controller to place every single little item in the game would be a terrible experience. You have to go through all the menus, find what you want and them place with a controller.

There is a reason why Planet Zoo will be a PC exlcusive. Cause you can't have that level of customization in a console game.

I still dont see how having more optional tools and decor to use would be to the detriment of the game or to controller users. You are also assuming that every player who uses a controller is going to complain about having more of said items and therefore Frontier shouldnt add more. A huge part of this game is placing fencing, buildings, pathways and other things. I would go even as far to say that is the gameplay, yet that doesnt stop anyone from buying it for xbox and playstation. If you took out all of that and just had everything auto generate for you there wouldn't even be a game to play. What's it to you anyways?

So they sell to you, who is happy to just observe dinosaurs walking inside a paddock, and additionally everyone else who wants more of a creative outlet.

False. Games with that level of customisation exist on console, not just park builders either, and they currently operate on the platform with multiple season passes worth of paid DLC, all with healthy player bases.

If Frontier restrict these titles to PC only because of a controller, they're sadly missing out on sales. It's probably more to do with the PS4 being pants in performance and flexibility with M&K support compared to the XBOX that stops them bringing these titles to console. They'd have to make multiple versions and it would be too costly.

Not me, but they have more people to cater to than just me, you and the other people on here. That's something you don't seem capable of understanding.

Games having levels of customization you would see in a PC exclusive like Planet Zoo don't matter. Just having customization isn't all that matters. What matters if is if the game does it well with a controller or not. 95% of the games who do have customization on the level of Planet Coast or Planet Zoo are most likely terrible to play. Just cause you can tolerate it doesn't mean it's good.

Frontier is a experienced game development studio and I am sure they know more about what works and what doesn't than you or anyone else on here. They have people that test the game. If they could have put a lot of decorative items in the game they would have. But they didn't and there is a reason for it. Cause having to use a controller to do that is terrible.

JPOG is a game some claim is better than this game and it also lacked decorative items and so on. It was also a console game. Console simplification is nothing nothing new.

That's because you are willing to tolerate it while others aren't. Like I said I have played these types of games with consoles and they are terrible compared to their PC counter parts. I understand some people don't have a choice. But using a controller for these types of games is just bad. Even with this game it's not great and I have tried it. It's much better with a keyboard and mouse. But especially the mouse.

Also using the fence is a bad example. You can place multiple pieces of fence. It's nothing like having to sit around and place individual decorative items and having to cycle through all the menus with a controller to do it. I imagine you want something like Planet Coaster. That would be terrible with a controller. The 360 or Xbox one controller doesn't even work with Planet Coaster and there is a reason for that.
