If I reset my CMDR, do I lose my badges?

I have a second licence with a CMDR that has been with DW2 to Beagle Point so I gained the DW2 badge.
If I reset that CMDR do I lose that?

I'd ask FD directly on their support page honestly. Things you've purchased remain with the reset commander, like paint skins and ship kits. But things your commander has earned from in-game activities like DW2 badges or Elite badges will probably be lost.

All these years later and I still can’t wrap my head around resetting. It’s not like you can’t just jump into a sidewinder at any time anyways.

You won’t forget how to fly, how to make credits, how to fight, what to haul or to where, and Discovered things don’t become undiscovered, so I just don’t see the point.

It is the Insurance Claims 0 that drives me. I really get an itchy brain with even 1 there - so destruction means clear save. Admittedly Engineers makes it a chore but that is an incentive to avoid destruction.

Doesn’t bother me. Biowaste transpires.

My new favorite Mad Lib is:

Admittedly ___ makes it a chore but that is an incentive to avoid destruction.

I purchased a second licence for this reason, so that I can reset and restart everything anytime without losing too much... But then I started DW2 and things changed :p
I don't think I'll ever reset my primary CMDR.

I can think of several. :)
1) Challenge: Once you've hit Elite in all three paths; there's no-where else to go. Sure; you can gain rank in the major powers but maybe that's not a player's 'thing'.
2) Curiosity: the chance to try new ideas to gain rank in interesting ways.
3) Sandbagging: a pilot with Elite skills rated as - perhaps - 'Mostly Harmless' flying into a PvP area in a Vulture he doesn't appear to know how to fly... ;)

LOL not suggesting they're GOOD reasons; but everyone has their own reason for playing. :)

One of the oddest things you can do is put in a customer support ticket to get your ranks (or combat in particular) reset.

I don't want to say the one remaining beacon of brilliance at frontier is anything but awesome, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't humour people anymore. I did it once ;)

My main is trying to reach combat Elite (currently Dangerous).

My alt has just reached 1Million Cr, is A rating an Eagle and doing some dodgy dealing to get access to The Dweller/Liz Ryder.

Guess which I'm enjoying more 😄

What I don't understand is why people need a new account for that. But if it helps overcome mental barriers, go for it.

I thought of clearing my save once, but this is where I landed as well. I can always start a new CMDR if I want to go through the 'new' new player experience. Otherwise I can do things like refuse insurance (fly without rebuy) if I want a more challenging game. #UnlockingEngineersSuck

There is a mindset in gaming of looking for that perfect game, and that can involve restarting a game over and over. I've reset my main Commander twice, not to look for the perfect start, although that is my reason in other games, but in Elite Dangerous I reset my account both times to see what the new updates would be like (to honest here, I can't remember exactly why I reset the first time).

Yes, you don't forget things you learned in the first play-through, and that's half the fun of restarting again, getting through the early game quicker because you know what to do.
