Obviously, the Type-7 needs to be modified to fit on a medium pad.

I agree completely. Variety is good and should be something FD focuses on. The Python BADLY needs competition from a medium sized dedicated cargo hauler. The Type-7 would be perfect for this with minor size adjustments. This should have been done a long time ago.
Honestly, I get the calls for Type-7 to be on a medium pad - really. The cargo issue alone essentially justifies this. Beyond that, though, I think the Type-7 has a greater need even if it stays as a large ship: meaningful hardpoints. The Type-7 could make a wonderful miner/trader at a price tag much more palatable than the Type-9. That, or the poor ship needs some other defining factor - better jump-range with a larger FSD or much greater maneuverability than its big brother.

The only reason a t7 is a large ship is because of a design error. At least it seems like it to me. Everything else says that it's a medium ship.

I feel it is a waste to use the Python for outpost hauling, that it is also 3 times more expensive than a T7, but if I want to haul more than 200 tons to an outpost and I'm out of luck.
I agree with OP here, the T7 is small for a large landing pad and is actually smaller and with less mass factor than a Python, it only has a bigger height that makes it unable to enter a medium hangar (considering these are correct):

If most people feel uneasy for a small change of 7 meters, as it is usually the case, then give us a "T7b Transporter", remove an internal and let's done with it.
The Orca has a similar issue. I think it's too long but it's not a true big ship.

Not that minor, really. No other ship has that feature, they'd have to code an entirely new behaviour for it.
And what happens if you log off on the pad? Normally you'd appear in the hangar when you log back in.

At this point with the rumoured coming updates the effort of rescaling the t7 to fit would seem waste full. Having design trade offs is part of what maked having different ships fun. I believe the clipper does not fit on medium pad either as a result of the crazy wide but stylish design. The designs are wjat they are and they either fit or they don't.

Such a wonderful ship, I remember when it was first introduced it was going to be my end goal ship, as 17 million credits for the Hull let alone outfitting seemed like an impossible figure to reach, but seemed like she'd be a great home among the stars
Managed to get one thanks to a trip to Sag A* ready to run guns to the Feds for the Lugh war, it was my Arms running ship to all those "Weapons Wanted" USSes that have gone into the shadows of history
Ever since we had the debug camera, I have been hoping the inactive lower hard point could be activated, and even the hinged wiglets fold like we see the Adders do
Even had the Mad idea of carrying a Sidewinder on one before SLFs
However calls for unlocked the Type 7's full potential never seem to have any result in making her a Medium Pad ship.

She has received many extra optional internals, increase core component sizes, a stronger hull, & a lighter hull.
All those mores suggest FDev dont see her as an outpost ship.
She doesn't seem like she will ever be remodeled shorted or have the ability to kneel to fit in that hanger.

Good points on how they've further enhanced the Type-7...which brings us back to maybe a better solution: there needs to be a larger medium trade ship.
I have found it odd that ship manufacturer's 'seem' to have cornered their markets, but then you see odd examples like the Python and Anaconda, or the Orca and Beluga Liner...ships that were clearly built to excel in a specific market (multi-role / passengers) but instead excel in other markets more than their intended market. Why does Lakon have the lion's share of transporters? Why does Faulcon DeLacey have the market in combat ships when Core Dynamics and Gutamaya clearly have the technical chops (and galaxy-sized exclusive contracts with Navies) to compete in all ship class sizes?
I guess this is a thinly veiled way of saying the game needs more ships - but more ships that compete with existing lineups. Zorgon Peterson's Adder and Hauler both look born to haul passengers...why don't they have a medium passenger transport that competes with Saud Kruger in the economy and business markets?
The Cobra clearly has the chops for exploration and represents Faulcon Delacey's multi-role design...why isn't Lakon pumping out more multi-roles to compete? The DBX basically is a multi-role and the Asp Scout is begging to be useful.
In every world imaginable the mid-range of vessels (medium in Elite) is where the rich and wealthy typically congregate - the ultra-rich may have large vessels or tiny personal escorts, but the majority prefer the 'just big enough so you know what I'm worth, just small enough it doesn't ruin my tax return'. Why is there not a medium Gutamaya!? Why isn't there a medium Saud Kruger?
I can get why Core Dynamics doesn't have a small heavily-armored combat ship...that seems counter-intuit...OH WAIT. There's the Viper Mk IV. Huh, would ya look at that. I guess there IS a market for heavily armored small ships. Who knew?
I've yet to find a commander who didn't like ship variety. So why not expand the market within the existing shipyards? The debate of the Type-7 wouldn't matter if the ship variety wasn't spread so thin between manufacturers. I mean, good grief, Zorgon Peterson has four ships.
Put another way: there is absolutely nothing wrong with redundant ships in the game. I really, really like the feel of the Adder - the enclosed cockpit with little windows - because it has such a unique feel compared to the more 'open' cockpits. The 'bubble' on Lakon ships is a favorite for the views, especially when exploring.
What if you could have the bubble on a combat ship - really see that fire-fight, risk of canopy blowing out and all - would you fly it? What if your medium passenger ship had the 'airplane cockpit' of an Adder, only larger as would make sense?
There's nothing wrong with more ship choice when the primary difference is aesthetics instead of performance. There will be performance quirks, of course, but leave that for the meta-analyzers and min-maxxers. They'll appreciate the challenge of figuring out an expanded lineup anyways. Give the rest of us more choice just for the sake of choice!
