Cobra Mk 4: open it up for everyone to buy this Xmas during Special Effect Livestream

Are people on this forum so screwed up they'd not go for this? Personally for me it would be a great fund raiser for a good cause and stop the pay to win Hodor forehead people from conspirisising FD making more cash.

Yes, yes they are

Charity should be shown in face, with real help, not giving money to faceless organisation whose only motivator is tax evasion.

As you said, monsters

Nah, they should do it properly and release another exclusive ship. How about the Panther Clipper? People seem to really want that, so they'd definitely pay money for it.

Good idea, however I think they should make it an exclusive one time only deal if you preorder the 2020 update now

I never thought I'd see the day people getting foot stomp grumpy over an old, pretty redundant curio ship while attaching some solemn oath promising retribution from the Illuminati if you made it available for a livestream.

It shouldn't have been a surprise, given the number of people getting 'foot stomp gumpy over an old, pretty redundant curio ship' that they're not allowed to have.

But I'm advocating to give these people a chance to have it for a good cause. Everyone wins in some way- as a LEP holder I don't attach any value to it at all.

There are far less contentious things that FDev could give away for a good cause, so it makes no sense for them to do it with the Cobra IV.

It's not like it would stop the demands for the Cobra IV to be free to everyone - there'd still be people who missed out and complain that they don't have it. It would actually be worse than make it universally accessible, in terms of the number of people it would upset.

It seems people will be upset regardless- tell people a week in advance (like FD do anyway) whats coming on the charity livestream and if they miss the chance then they go in the same whinge group as those who did not get the wireframe paints. A lot of commotion over the CM4 is that some never actually got the chance at all to own one- what better way to share the mediocrity than with a charity donation to give those people a chance?

There's no difference between 'whinge groups' - Cobra IV whingers are the same as wireframe whingers. Why are you accepting of one and not the other?

Who cares? I've learnt there are a lot more po faced people on these forums than I originally thought.

This is a nice way for everyone to have a chance at having something that up until now only a few had. I just did not realize how dismal people are, or how people seem to think FD are some evil megacorp, or that Special Effect is some sort of front.

How anyone can honestly think this:

Is not a great thing to donate to and get the forth stunted snake at the same time?

People should be donating anyway. There's no need to add the Cobra IV.

But there is no reason not to- its a popular item as the forum threads can attest to, and a great synergistic opportunity.

Your argument would mean that FD should stop offering raffle prizes because "people should just give anyway".

There IS a reason not to, but I'll forgive you if you weren't aware of it - the Cobra IV was sold as an EXCLUSIVE as part of the Horizons pre-order.

I'm sure you'll see that makes all the difference.

It's fine as long as the true backers get a new exclusive ship to compensate.

I can't also process how much value people place on the ship. Aside from its internals its a pile of old mans month old sweaty pants.

"true backers"

I hear them goose-stepping into this thread right now.

I don't think this thread is about charity or the Cobra MkIV, I think this is political.

If there is a desire to offer an incentive for the sake of charity there are plenty of less contentious rewards that could be offered, and regularly are. Posters, ship skins, hardware etc.

Contentious from whom? LEP and Kickstarter backers are not exactly the majority any more, and the 4 would be popular, much more so than ship skins.
