Cobra Mk 4: open it up for everyone to buy this Xmas during Special Effect Livestream

I think I'm the only person who is being reasonable here so for that reason fdev should let me fly the ship only. I will then feed back my experiences. We'll take it in turns. An hour each.

1. (exclusivity) and 2. (charity) are still unrelated. you're mixing up things here. if c4 would be a good tool, so would be any other goodie. i'm not even sure about the whole charities thing in this social media context but fair enough. even so, why on earth would you want to use precisely what shouldn't be used, because it is ... you guessed it, "exclusive"? you still don't get that that just doesn't make any sense?

Its quite simple: people want it (going from the recent and previous forum posts on it because its 'the' mystical item that you can fly about in), and allowing donations to access it brings the whole thing to a head in the right way (IMO at least). As you mention later exclusivity was wrong because not everyone had an equal chance. This is that final chance to get it, just as with some paints if I recall.

your opinion is just fine. you should realize that your opinion can't go over facts (exclusivity) and decisions that are way out of your control. that's for frontier to say. see:

But, its like, my opinion man, just as your opinion is the same. Its up to FD to judge exclusivity and when it ends and for what reason. This is as good as any in my view.

i am totally with you in that i don't give a damn about the cm4, and i gladly would give it to anybody if i could (i would miss the threads, though 😢).
i could agree that "exclusivity" might be a bad choice. not really, i think people could just grow up and accept it, sheesh, but whatever. it's controversial to say the least.

but the thing is that frontier backed themselves into this corner and are stuck in it. there is no good way out. neither your opinion, nor mine, nor any good intentions matter in the slightest. if they decide out of the blue to unleash the damn ship then so be it, i'm fine. but they will have broken a contract, that's a fact. i don't think they would do so except in very special circumstances, and with very strong reason. i honestly don't think your idea could qualify. but frontier have baffled me more than once with beyond silly moves. imo, their best move is not to move at all, that is something they do very well and i expect them to keep doing exactly that.

If its for a valid reason, why not take the 'good' path out, even if it was for one day? Then you can rightly shut the door on all the controversy because everyone had an equal, and final opportunity.

So you don't think the O.P. 'is' being reasonable, then?

Then we can go back to, the subject of, what should be 'exclusive' to open play and what should not.

A better solution would be to make it cyclic. Release the C4. Make a C5 and make that exclusive for 5 years. We can review if the game's still going in another 5 years. 😏 (Oh, actually make the C5 good so the whiners can be stuck with the lemon for 5 years while the early backers are zipping around in a Cobra worthy of the name). :p

I think the game should randomly decide which ships you have access to when you launch. If you happen to no longer have access to the ship you're in, you appear in an escape pod until someone comes to rescue you.

Salt. It maybe to gain attention, but mostly; just to get a reaction and to denigrate any opposition.
It is, what you do and seem to enjoy doing.

Quite often, I find it amusing, but then you sometimes, let your venom; take things too far.
Of course you are; being as naive, as you are.

Note to self: Really must; try to under-stand! the usage; of punctuation in: English

Though I'm pretty sure Arry is trolling with his punctuation :)

Well, it was over 40 years ago; when I passed my 'O' levels, in English Literature and English grammar. So much time has passed and the Americans have been dictating, how we spell words and form sentences; for decades now. I do agree, that I do use apostrophes a little too often; but that is to emphasise words, as I do not like using capitals, as many seem to do, these days.

I was thinking more about the semicolons :)
I try to restrict them, to one per sentence, at the appropriate time; of course. Some do say, that they should only follow, full colons; but that was back when Latin, was still a compulsory subject.

Its quite simple: people want it (going from the recent and previous forum posts on it because its 'the' mystical item that you can fly about in), and allowing donations to access it brings the whole thing to a head in the right way (IMO at least).

you have been saying this over and over. people want the moon. and i want a small mamba already!

As you mention later exclusivity was wrong because not everyone had an equal chance.

exclusivity might or might not have been wrong but your idea doesn't make it any better, but worse. how is modifying the exclusivity parameters ex post any better? you realize it would still be exclusive? that all those who wouldn't be able (or bother) to attend the livestream would still whine? "final chance"? what final chance? final chance was in 2016 when the exclusive was announced! you want another final chance in 2019? but only for good samaritans (that's supposed to be a plus and make things right i guess)?. what about the next final chance in 2022? will that really be final final?

if you at least advocated to make it available for all that could even make sense. but thus you're just jumping into a rabbit hole here.

If its for a valid reason,

that's only your (very respectable) opinion. people will (very respectably) disagree and there's your drama again. besides 2 wrongs don't make 1 right.

why not take the 'good' path out,

because there is no path out, except completely voiding exclusivity and making it free for all. see above.

there is one other sensible option: do nothing about it, keep it exclusive.

even if it was for one day?

again, what about the next day, when the whining becomes again unbearable?

Then you can rightly shut the door on all the controversy because everyone had an equal, and final opportunity.

and, actually, i really doubt this is a real problem for frontier. some there might regret the exclusive, some not. personally i bet many there are laughing their arxes off with this, but it is definitely not hurting them. i speculate the opposite is the case. people moaning about the damn cobra4 is definitely still people keeping talking about things elite, right? it fills the long wait, maybe it's just the kind of oddity that someone might find to be more inciting than anything else.

The most common use of the semicolon is to join two independent clauses without using a conjunction like and.
...
We can go to the museum to do some research; Mondays are pretty quiet there.

I'll leave you with
Shakespeare said:
The quality of mercy is not strained;
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:
'T is mightiest in the mightiest; it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown:
His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptred sway;
It is enthronèd in the hearts of kings,
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest God's
When mercy seasons justice.

(Though modern spelling is a little more codified of course)

People only want it because they can't have it.
If it was opened up we'd end up with a weekly "mk4 is rubbish" thread instead of "I want one" thread, and it's more fun watching a load of CMDR stroppypants' complaining they can't have one than endless links to slightly different fitouts on coriolis.

I'll leave you with

As I said: Back when Latin, was a compulsory subject.

I am not a follower, of the James Joyce philosophy; when it comes to punctuation etc..

Honest truth, between your commas and your profile image I genuinely thought you were somehow associated with 'Thoughts of Dog' on Twitter. At the risk of sounding incredibly condescending (and speaking as someone who normally gets twitchy at greengrocers apostrophe's), I actually kind of like your punctuation. Makes your posts distinctive and gives you a recognisable voice.

Thanks: No; I do not have a twitter account. Although, many have said I should get one; just to put the likes of Lord Chump, in their place.

For years, I have tried very hard, to be very careful, how I string words together; when I write and speak. A wrong word or phase, can do so much damage and totally change the context, or meaning, of what I intend to say.
