Pretty sure someone pinched this idea from my stream yesterday when I read the newsletter out...
No, actually when I first checked out Lave Radio, I hoped it would be something like this, like a roleplay radio station, and was a bit disappointed that it's more like an ordinary gaming podcast... But you guys were first in covering Elite in general, so if you want to do this stuff too, I'll gladly step aside!

I was actually thinking about making the suggestion based on all of the streams over the past week... I have had them running on my tablet as I played, listening more than watching them and think it adds to the community feel of the game even when playing in solo mode.... Maybe we could get Voo and Gavin Average (the Dude!) DJ'ing the weekend breakfast show!
Ill listen to it, if i can save a link for a player like vlc to my computer so i can just load it up and get the stream that way

I have been playing with VoiceAttack to pull news from my server and read them out.
It would in theory mean less time doing the production side of it as there would be no need to record anything. It could also allow others to write news or articles and submit them. The downside is it would not be a human voice, I find the TTS voices a bit grating after a few continuous sentences.

Yeah, I played around with TTS a bit, but it's just not a pleasure to listen to it...

This is awesome. Please make more. It would be nice if there are enough people doing it to provide variety as we have in real life radio. Also would be nice if down the line the game gets a "car stereo" so to speak like there is in euro truck simulator where we could cue these podcasts and maybe a music play list or two up and control it in the cockpit. I think it's reasonable to imagine that in cabin stereo will still be an option in the future.
Even better! It would be like a real radio station! Would be even greater if it ever makes implementation in the game if there was say a "general purpose" station that was available galaxy wide and then more "local" stations that are only available within a few system radius to keep it relevant to where you happen to be. I imagine the game could be pointed to a player's local playlist on his machine to grab music from and throw in a news cast every few songs or so.
Even if it does not get implimented, If we can get someone to host some music, I bet there would be a LOT of fan participation in making commercials, Galnet news, trade/traffic reports, bounties, etc. Sure would be fun to hear a news report about the brewing civil war in Lugh!

Notice that you might need to pay for an account, as I currenty have the smallest possible subscription that only allows five listeners (if I understood all that correctly). So far there's 1 hour, 44 minutes of programming there, with lots of classic rock and hard rock plus the three news episodes I made so far, inserted after every four songs or so...
