Fleet Carrier Support ship - why?

OP: The trailer suggests that the support ship is nothing more than a visual thing. And it's likely that is what it will be. There's nothing to suggest it will move nor be piloted. Players will likely dock and unload at the carrier and the 'support ship' will be nearby as eye candy to support your choice of menus - err.... choice of role for explorer, mercenary, etc.

Let's just go with the simple here - because you're not going to be flying a Carrier around like you would an Anaconda.
They're going to sit wherever they jump into a system and sit there until you jump it out to somewhere else.

Support Ship, could it be like if you are out mining and you fill up on ore then you can have your npc pilot fly it of to market to sell while you stay and keep mining.

There needs to be some kind of harder to attain support ship which is a wildcard we can stack specific support roles into. (Assuming support ships do more than one thing each) so maybe I can have one of the exploration perks plus one if the mercenary perks and a mining perk. Something.
Though I have a feeling it's going to basically be a mission hub.

Don't worry about it, it's probably the next step in the galaxy's technology advancement: telepresence support ship. Telepresencally rearming your carrier even in the middle of nowhere.

o is this a Support ship ? its huge, looks like a full size Space Port without the slot. unless it's in the back.
has anyone seen this kind of Space Port in the game.

How can this be a Support Ship

No slot. No parking to drop off mats.

My prediction is the support ship is a construction and configuration anchor point. Essentially a dry dock.

Module swap out and livery linked to the support vessel.

My further prediction is that separate in-support ship menu for configuration and livery will pop up.

The class of support ship will dictate the range of numbers and types of modules that can be swapped.

The support ship will be a separate credit and resource sink from the spine of the fleet carrier.

So, to sum up.

Buy base fleet carrier and support ship.
Upgrade support ship to configure new fleet carrier capacities and store modules for fleet carrier.
Use support ship menu to craft your fleet carrier.

Oh don't forget maintenance costs. Bet you can spend ARX for maintenance...

It would be extra sweet if we could park our carrier in a system and access the same missions as the main starport. (Maybe a restriction is imposed to one faction)

Say you support an Anarchy faction but the controlling faction is hostile to you, you could carry on doing so without the starport respawning you even when you are not wanted and have paid all bounties/fines!!

Swagger into said system, raise the emblem of true freedom (Anarchy) and go to work not having to support a tyrant just to access Anarchy missions.

As it is, we'd have to run missions for petty tyrants (Feds, Alliance and Imps) to remove hostility ratings ---YUK --spit hoark and gob! p
