This game is not friendly to newcomers?

I bought it on steam today, and so far - I have 0 clues of what I can do. I get 0 information on where I can go to do stuff. I see something called Mawson dock, which description says it's for new pilots, so I figure maybe that's where I start. I die once on my way there due to overheated ship and it exploded with no information why or how to prevent it. At least nothing a new player can understand. I respawn like millions of kilometres away again at something called the detention centre or something. Now I got to Mawson dock, but when I try to enter it I get warnings for trespassing, even though it says I have access. I read somewhere that you have to go fast and not too slow, and I was pretty slow so that would make sense. It also said you can't get fined for trespassing... But nooo.
I got fined like 20 times, 200C each, and I still couldn't dock. It's too late for me to refund, but this game is so weird. How am I supposed to do ANYTHING in this game if it tells me nothing and throws me in with 100 different mechanics and problems that I have 0 knowledge of preventing? A very poorly made game, or so it seems.

"called the detention centre or something " suggests to me you did something illegal and killed for it.
"I get warnings for trespassing " Did you ask for docking permission?. You definately get fined for trespassing, why wouldn't you?

Other than that, the posts above me (since I'm darn slow) makes a fine point
Welcome to the game. It's amazing but has a bit of a learning curve. If you think info is scarce now, you can be glad you didn't play it at release.

If you can't be bothered to do tutorials, don't bother us with your complaining. Play something else. In Rebel Galaxy Outlaw you fly by pressing one button, shoot with the other and land automatically. Maybe it's for you.

Do the tutorials and be patient.

If you have specific questions this forum is a great place to get answers. For docking make sure to lower you landing gear and have the ship pointed in the correct direction - or buy a docking computer.

This game is extremely deep but one you master the basics you will find there are a lot of things to do.

You have to ask permission to dock.
If you overheat it means you probably got too close to a star.
Relax brother this game takes a bit of time. YouTube beginner tutorials. I’ve been playing for a week and haven’t really done any missions. But I’ve acquired a Python worth 77 million. And have another 98 million in the bank :) mainly mining. But done some exploration and bounty collecting as well. Once you have the basics, learn how to split asteroids. There are tons of good tutorials on the process on YouTube. I made 37 million cr this morning in one run

I did tutorials. They do not answer my questions, so dont be rude to me. Trust me I know how to fly. I could land perfectly in this game if it would allow me to. Flying in this game is not very hard. Clearly you implied that Im too incompetent to play this, judging by your condescending reply, but that is not the case, thank you very much.

I did not do anything illegal. I accidentally pressed Y on Xbox controller and it overheated and I exploded and respawned in the detention centre (for whatever reason). I did not ask for docking permission, I didnt know I had to, how would I know that? Not like the game tells me I have to do it or how to do it lol. It said something with docking permission restored once I had backed out after receiving the warning. Someone had this problem too and all the replies said to just drive faster when entering, and that should prevent from getting a warning. They said nothing about docking permission either. They also said I couldn't get fined for trespassing. Since the game says nothing about it, and this community told me you can do all these things to help my problem then I have no reason not to trust them.

It's better with friends.

Struggling to figure things out is more fun when you don't have to do it alone.

Subtle joke...

Forgetting to request docking permission will result in a tresspass warning, and a fine if you aren't careful. Death, if you linger until the timer expires.

Failing to dock within the allotted time will result in a trespass countdown if you are still inside a station. You will also receive fines, then death if you don't leave the station in time.

If you haven't entered the station, you may linger outside until the countdown expires without penalty. You will, however, be required to request docking permission again before attempting to dock.

Blocking landing pads, either intentionally, or on accident will result in your death after a short time. So will lingering in the station entrance.

When landing, make sure your ship's hologram is facing away from you. You can be perfectly lined up, but if you're backwards, you will not be able to land completely.

Edit: Overheating may be caused by accidentally engaging a feature called 'silent running'. Y+LB is the default mapping for this I believe.

The tutorials absolutely tell you how to dock and the process to do it. Someone is lying.

Thank you for the reply but I dont think its worth my time lol. I might know how to dock now but I still will never learn anything to progress in this game, or how to travel around smoothly. It took me 3 hours to get to a destination because I flew past it every time I jumped and eventually just flew ordinarily for like 5000 km which took FOREVER! lol. but thanks still

not well enough obviously, and since the community here told me completely different on how to dock, I trusted them more since the game doesn't tell me much. But i was unrewarded non the less. (I do not mean the community in this post, I just read it elsewhere, not pointing fingers at anyone here or at all I just think the game gives no info thanks for everyone trying to help)

That's the thing, this is a game where you actually have to learn... This game does most definately not hold your hand, quite the opposite, it's the absent parent for sure. There are a plethura of other mmo's out there, not mentioning names, where you can't do anything wrong and loose stuff.
Coming to the general forums and say the game is bad just because of reasons isn't a good idea in general :D

3 hours? Bloke on YouTube says you should be triple Elite and have a 600ly jumping Conda by now.

Not sure why your still landing at stations, get yourself a FLEET CARRIER, you don’t land on it, it embraces you to the ground.

Go and have a cup of something, come back to it later. It’s a great game but you are rather thrown in blindfolded and the temptation is to battle on anyway. The tutorials, as everyone says, are a great start.
