I know people keep saying that Carriers "can't" have conventional hangars 'cos of the way the pads are positioned but I don't think that's the end of the world.
Seems like, with minimal effort, it'd be possible to simply place hangars underneath each other, so a ship on one pad would lower one level down while the ship on the neighbouring pad would lower two levels down.
The thing I'm curious about is whether all the pads have sufficient room to rotate but presumably FDev must have considered that otherwise there'd be the possibility that players would launch off neighbouring pads at the same time and clip into each other as they rotated.
Course, it might be that the pads don't have hangars and/or don't rotate either, thus creating a 16 ship limit for each Carrier.
That's going to kind of suck, though, 'cos it means there's unlikely to be an Outfitting option.
Also, it seems like it would already have been acceptable to forget rotating pads for Orbital platforms.
The fact that they're present on Orbital platforms rather suggests that FDev either want to, or need to, use 'em.
Honestly, I dunno why they decided to put all the pads on one side of the ship, tiled like that.
Seems like they could've made the Carriers a bit wider then placed all the pads side-one, with the large ones on the "top" and the small/medium ones on the "bottom".
So many questions!
So many possibilities!
