Did the bottom just fall out of the painite market?

I just decided to try out this painite laser mining everyone is talking about.
I looked up the tool and found a good loop with a double hotspot and a fairly local sell point with a rate of around 780k.

Filled my Python up and set my route to the sell point, the DB said the price was 780k ish 40 minutes ago.

I get there and both stations in the system are only buying for 370k.... I review the DB and it seems like no place in the galaxy is buying for more than that. At least for the first whole page on EDDB.

What gives? Did I just find the moment when the bubble burst?

Prices tend to drop out after a while. Some stations I might sell there just once never to visit again, others I sell there night after night. I don't know if these stations with the high offers actually have a set requirement which, once satisfied, sees the price drop or if it's just random.

Scoob.

I seem to sell at a different station every run. Check in EDDB before you depart from the asteroid belt, and know that prices may only be good for a few hours. If the high selling station is too far away, just zip out of the ring, quit from the game and check back the next day, odds are good a closer station will now the be top seller.

This weekend, I got a shock that the high station was only about 70 LY from my hotspot system. That was very cool.

That's what I did use!

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I check the prices when I plotted my route! it said price was updated 40 min ago and I get there 4 jumps later to find it's fallen off.

Prices may change when demand's met or when states change on the daily BGS tick. You want a combination of Investment+Civil Liberty+Pirate Attack, but the prices may drop even when all three are active.

The BGS can move the economy pretty quickly sometimes. That's one of the reasons I swapped out my T9 with an engineered Cutter with a Guardian FSD upgrade--to get the painite to market asap. But sometimes, the good sell price has moved, and I have to carry the PAINite further.

780,748 per ton for painite at the station im parked at. Yesterday the excess in supply dropped it to below 760K but lack of supply today has moved it back too 780K per ton..
This is what Fdev stated will happen. The BGS will create rushes and react to the supply... The primary issue has been that the ammount of users Doing mining has never been enough to totaly drop VO and Painite and cause a true market crash... LTD and Benitoite are simply there to replace them if they ever drop to low anyway...
As soon as VO drops to low the current miners would just move to the next item and the cicrle repeats but this is only because theres not enough users even playing to full crash all 4 items at the same time...
IF painite drops to low they just move on to LTD
If VO drops to low every one moves to Benitoite... and the others recover...

Bolden's Enterprise at Tir is buying Painite for 796,990 Cr/t. Was there minute ago...

Actually, the same price is here for approx. three days :)

So what you're all saying is that I'm, amazingly, not the only CMDR who thought about how many credits we might need come December and loaded up the mining tool to scout the best spots?....

....
....
I'm skeptical.

High-end mining prices are very dependent on state, and the Pirate Attack state only lasts 3 days.

So if the price report is before the BGS tick, and you go there after the tick, there's at least a 1-in-3 chance that the Pirate Attack state has gone, which will halve the price.

In a busy system Pirate Attacks will occur about once in every 30 days, so 10% of busy systems will have top prices at any particular time. Because of how EDDB works, of course, it's more likely to be showing the high prices for the ones that have just stopped giving the best price than the ones which have just started.
