Um... what? (Unlocked Chloe but not Palin)

So, I just unlocked Chloe Sedesi for traveling 5000ly from career start. Why did I not also unlock Professor Palin?

They have litterally the exact same unlock requirement.

I'm thoroughly highly confused...

Did; Palin getting attacked by the thargoids and him running from Maia to Arque break his unlock requirement?

Because I've been in his station, bought Enhanced Thrusters 3A and couldn't use his workshop. So I just flew 5000ly from LHS 3447. I unlocked his apprentice, why not him?

Sometimes it takes a relog. Sometimes it takes another hop.
I'd just stick around going further and come back with a few more credits worth of exploration data.

I'm quite sure I had dirty drives pinned, as of today I can't use it although it still shows as pinned.
Something wrong with Palin? Was he in the Orthrus, running away?
Something buggy going on here...

I suppose the difference is making the best of the situation. But I suppose one could hurtle into the nearest star too for all the good it would do.

Have you tried going to him anyway? Maybe that's just his email is missing...

I would try restarting the game, checking if Palin is actually available even without email and if not - send ticket to support.

Not just the lack of email, but lack of progress. I relogged. Closed and reopened elite, turned off my Xbox altogether. And this is what I get.
Because "Pics or it didn't happen" wouldn't be proof enough:

Let's not forget that you'll need to give him 25 Sensor Fragments before he will let you do anything. Same for the girl.

Where's it say this

Every other engineer shows their EXACT requirements in game in the engineer panel.

Either way so what. What's 25 units of anything, if I don't get any progress towards him?

If I don't progress the previous step, I won't even have the option to do the latter step... (Proven by every single other engineer who has multiple requirements.)
