What do you CMDRs think SpaceLegs weapons would look like?

Hopefully not like genitals... Apparently 'IndigoWyrd' is of the opinion that males like to draw things in the shape of male genitalia. I'm not sure, but I suspect Frontier has some male artists on its staff. Let's get the word out now - we don't want any weapons shaped like male genitalia, thank you very much!

Wasn’t my scientific study, I just made fun of people. Although... a Dangly Baster could be funny in the circumstance.

And there is no guarantee that bipedal locomotion will include combat arms. In a majority of systems these are illegal cargo, so a personal firearm may be a no-go.

I know, there’s the whole David Braben big game hunter mention from ages past, but that could well be a whole separate not-a-season as well.

Only time will tell.

I'll take one of those and a side order of bricks. :D🧱

Given how advanced the laser tech is, I think that would be the move. Laser weapons have no recoil so it seems like the obvious choice.

They could also have guns that shoot little self-propelled rockets. There were prototypes of this style made decades ago, but they were crap

Tomalus, apparently.

Which doesn't impress me much, to be honest :).
Never heard this before. I understood that the engine was specifically designed to be able to handle it. So his remark came out of the blue for me.

Though it was said by Braben, I believe, that Space Legs have been in the plan since day 1.
That is my understanding too.

He's right. The engine can handle spaceships, rollercoasters, crowds, weather, dinosaurs, entire planets... but not moving an animated character around. That one ubiquitous feature of the last 40+ years of computer games is impossible in the Cobra Engine. Obviously. 😂

Can't go wrong with the classics.

More traditional firearms would be a nice touch. Make them more available on the galactic fringes. Colonia, Pegasi, places where folks have to improvise to survive.
Honestly, yes, as well as modernized Hi-Tech variants and spinoffs of "classic" firearms. Really the weapon types we have today would be very effective and adaptable even in a future like ED.

Someone here mentioned big game hunting, and that gives me an idea: what if small arms were extremely powerful, but slow firing weapons? No spray and pray type gameplay, you have maybe a couple dozen charges/large cartridges and have to make every shot count. Stealth movement, sniping, seeing your enemy first, and hitting your target would all be a must.
