FDEV level of communication...

...has improved greatly compared to say a year ago! Kudos to the Elite CM's not only for giving us more detailed information, but also for picking up questions from the forums and streams and providing responses in a timely manner.

Good job! (y)

(Also, please keep it up :) )

FD are good at communicating at the things they want to communicate about- for example they are very responsive regarding grey areas on upcoming features.

As for...other things.....they are not that good. Its coming up to the half decade for Powerplay, and Sandros last proposal has had its first birthday.

<cough> Not even so good at that - what does that 16 pad limit on FC they talked about actually mean? But yes, they could certainly at least say "No changes for PP planned" to put you out of your misery (or even better "we found a slot, expect PP updates!" :) )

They are responsive within the bounds of what they feel they can talk about given marketing plans and a certain natural caution.
Which does tend to cut down what they can say rather a lot but they respond where the can I think.
I appreciate the bounds on that are way more restrictive than a lot of us would like but still.

Shouldn't your post be in the Elite Memes thread?

Also, fixed it for you

You'll get the info on FCs at around Xmas, just as FD have been forthcoming about Arx recently. This is where they are half decent. But yes, a PP message yay or nope would be warranted. The Powerplay proposal was penciled in at around the beginning of this year (or at least it had a slot in the schedule, from accounts) but just gets lost in the shuffle yet again.

OP's point was that fdev have been better at clarifying info they have released (such as the 16) - was just pointing out that they sometimes do, sometimes don't.

I would have been happier if they had kept quiet about the 16 until December, as now we need to track the threads in the Thread Thread for the next 3 months, where a clarification could reduce that count. Then again, we have targets to meet, so maybe Stephen is a secret Thread Thread supporter :)

Anyway, regarding the OP it's certainly been a change for the better recently - looking forward to the Patch Notes today :)

To be honest, I don't think FD communication is that bad (although not great either), They sure do communicate more often than the vast majority of game companies, even if they don't have people adressing everyone individually on all matters, or as often as people would like.

The only bit I dislike, is the lack of info on whatever the future plans are. This becomes especially evident since we came from an initial era of the "newsletter week peek", and "developer diaries" where people always had something to look forward to, to an era of complete, area-51 like secrecy, where FD refuses to even hint about whatever plans they have for next year or even the next 6 months.

While most companies try to create enthusiasm about incoming releases to increase game notoriety and drive sales, FD on the other hand keeps going the extra mile to keep this game as below the radar as possible for some strange reason. It's like they don't actually have a long term plan and just "do things as they go", or don't have enough confidence in their own work.

Is this a parallel universe or have you failed to recognize that they never share information at all in time? A week before release we got the very first numbers with ARX being capped at 400 per week coupled with the prices, means 24 cents per week. A very poor number. And that's it. Also the other 100 questions from the community remain unanswered, as you can see below.

No, that was Yamiks, not the community.
