FDEV level of communication...

Problem is, it isn't fun with the mess we have at the moment. Earning ARX would have been a compensation for this.

I've always thought that give arx for playtime is a bad idea because of exactly this. Playing the game just to get a free paint job every month (approximately ), when you're not having fun kind of defeats the point of the game I.e. Having fun!

I'm still enjoying the game, so I'm not bothered if I hit the 400 cap a week or not. But if it's not fun for you, find something else that is because no amount of arxs will make it fun, because arcxs do not effect the game performance.

Fear Of Missing Out - I must play X hours a week to get my 400 ARX ....or else....or else......???? fear..... aaaaggghh.

Come on people play the game if you enjoy it and if you accumulate enough ARX to get a PJ Bonus !

I already did this and bought a hand full of singleplayer games. Though their lifetime is limited as they are mainly story driven apart from Everspace. Then I started out a MMORPG and already invested 500 hours in it. It's not that I don't have any alternatives (anymore :p) but I didn't completely quit Elite. The times when I come back I quickly realize why I am not playing it as frequent anymore. Now with ARX it finally has a gameplay reason to it but a too meaningless one.
After all I still hope for ED to get a cleaning squad that polishes the old and rusty parts of ED but yeah, it's pathetic that it's only hope that#s keeping me from not uninstalling it already.

I'd start with polishing the game, fixing bugs and do frequent balancing updates. I ain't gonna invest any additional cent into Elite in its current state. The recent updates had next to nothing important for long term palyers and really only draw the attention of newcomers, probably just to make even more money.
And that is your choice. But as you can see from the patch notes, they are fixing bugs, they have been polishing the game for sometime now and as to balancing updates, they are not really needed in a predominantly PvE game, but I accept that it would be nice.

The balance in PvE has been offset since engineers. Especially in PvE balance changes are needed. The AI has no fully G5 engineered vessels and are weaker than players by their loadout. And then their AI is no more challenging than a a Minecraft dungeon spawner.
In PvP you also have a lot of issues. And then we have inflated credits and no balance between mining and other careers.

The balance is off for a long time now. And then there is powerplay, that not only is unbalanced but blantly broken. Also Multicrew doesn't work until today. You get frequently disconnected in all kinds of instancing switches like jumps, drops, interdictions, etc.
Why even have this in the game if it's not working? It's literally a can full of code-junk.

That depends on the player and you don't need to fully engineer your ship. That is a choice you make yourself. I don't fully engineer my ship because I want the NPC's to be challanging. Create your own balance.

PvP is on an even keel from what I can tell. But I agree about both mining and exploration giving out far too much cash, not that it stops me from enjoying the activities.

Having some balance issues does not stop me from enyoing the game and I can't remember the last time I had a disconnect. Probably had two or three since I have been playing since original beta. The game has been the most stable game I have ever played. Why you are getting constant client crashes is beyond me.

Actually Dangerous, Deadly and Elite NPCs have some engineering modules on them. And, IIRC, at CZs, all NPCs are fully engineered.

It's not fully, they have G3-5 on some modules but they don't do the 200+ DPS the real fully G5 engineered ships do. Let alone the AI and their ToT. For defenses, the meta is either a HD stack or a full resistance build. NPCs don't follow the meta and their loadouts are rarely well thought.out .. if at all, effectively only making them a hitpoint inflated duck to shoot at that has a minor damage boost.

To chime in with my thirty three & a third Arx worth (that’s about 2p, right?) about the free Arx amount - I think it’s a lot better than what we had previously, which ranged from “absolute nowt” to “your annual nominated special day gift thing” (which I only got once, and that was a percentage-off voucher for a paint pack).

OT: if we get back Dev sneak peek pics in the newsletter, then we’re talking :)

If I need to handicap myself in order to get a challenge, then this is, by definition, unbalanced.

PvP is half-way balanced. 50% of the modules and weapons are viable, the others are not. Major issues are hitpoint inflation, shield dominance, PA absolute damage (which is actually a good thing, but it's the only weapon, giving it a dominant position), seekers, healing, reverski, longrange, ammo, synthesis
And then we have minor issues that are countless but I name a few: shock cannon ammo, flechette shot speed, ammo and damage, enzyme missile deals 1 damage (literally), cytoscramblers range and jitter, pulse disruptor DPE, DPS and RoF, PDTs accuracy, ECM recharge duration

This is really just a tiny introduction to what is unbalanced.

To the disconnects: you may never have been in populated instances and switching them frequently. Especially during PvP where a large amount of players drop in and out of instances, the networking system fails to keep track and fails to connect the respective players so you will experience a variety of issues like desynchs, disconnects, instance and game crashes, empty instances (in populated systems), rubberbanding, high latency (3000ms record for me connecting to a friend), blue tunnels and ofcourse combat logging.

If you claim Elite is a stable and well refined game, then oh dear, your requiernments must be really low. It is playable but there are far better and more polished games out there.
