Franchise Mode: Set prices for animals by yourself ?

It would be great if we could determine the selling prices for our animals ourselves in franchise mode.
This would give us a real marketplace that depends on supply and demand.

Frontier should set a base price based on the genetics, the gender and the age of the animal.

Example:
The base price for a male zebra with very good genetics and 2 years old is 8.000$.

Since there are very few zebras on the marketplace, the player can take a serve. E.g. 2.000$

The market price would be:
8.000$ Base costs
+ $2,000 surcharge
-------------------------
10.000$

Trading animals with other players is great for expanding your zoo and can be used as a great source of income too. When you list your animal you’ll be able to set its price in Conservation Credits, so if you want a fast sale you can set it below the market average. The price you set for your animal will depend on a few factors: the species of animal, its age, and more importantly its genetics. If you have an animal with great genetics, then you can charge top dollar for an animal!

I think this Animal Market is going to get real interesting. The people who get a rare animal early may have an advantage because they'll be able to sell it for a bundle and then have those credits to invest in other rare animals. Should be fun!

Good genitics means a lot of effort and work. Do we probably see this price structure?

Perhaps as a successful breeder you should only keep 3-4 animals per zoo. But for that several breeding facilities per animal to produce a good genetic?
A good franchise name would be like "priority breeding corp."

Yeah, if we don't play as a full time job (that would be my dream job... who wants to sponsor me?), it probably will be best to specialize in 2 to 3 species with high quality breeding. Still, some animals will be more popular than others.

I've been thinking this too, it might pay off to specialize in a few different types of animal and put a lot of effort into the genetics. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all works.

I could very well imagine an auction for "premium" animals.
The player could set a high price for "instant buy" or a low price as the starting bid of an auction - with the potential of a way higher price, but also the risc of ending below the instant buy price.

Nobody wants to wait three days, until an animal is sold. Therefore, an auction would have to be resolved quite fast (preferably real-time) and with an interesting UI feed-back & handling.
Does anybody remember M.U.L.E.? I am revealing my age here ( ), but I fondly remember the bidding system in this ancient game. It was lots of fun to compete against some friends for sparse and very needed ressources.

That's a good point. Franchise Mode is going to force us to have a well-balanced zoo because to get those great genetics we are going to have to provide good care and good care is going to require lots of guests, and if we just focus on specializing on a few animals, we won't get lots of guests - unless we have a number of rare animals, hmmmm ...

Auctions always favor the rich. If someone is online that has more money and they want what you want, you don't have a chance.

It's more of a thought than a wish for now.
Maybe I will consider it, but I want to get my hands on the game first so I can form an educated opinion on the current system.

(And the mods are active everywhere; if they like the thought, they will take notes anyway. )
