What to do about Griefers

The problem is, I was testing out a new build with a poor jump range and now I can't get back to Jameson at all.

I'm blocking them all now, even the ones I see attack others.

But I was trying to run away!

This sounds like the best plan, I'll be in solo more until I find a better home for my fleet.

There are 3 lists available of most griefers and the members of 3 pf the 3 biggest pvp squads etc.. Should be on these forums, if yer stuck I can post them.

Block them. Go to menu 2, select the offending player, select block. Your chances of being instanced with them will be reduced. You must quit and restart the game for the function to work.

This is a game mechanic designed by FDEV.

You do not even need a reason to block a player. You can go down your contacts list and say, ew ugly avatar - blocked, nope that name offends me - blocked, that person drives a T7 - blocked.

Crime and punishment in this game is badly broken, and FDEV has ignored 20+ years of pve pvp management to address these interactions.

The block is a band aide, but it kind of works.

You break the speed limit and die block it!, block all pirates, block all powerplay engagements, someone interdicts you, block them, block them all, this can't possibly backfire can it :D

I agree with you on a lot of real world off topic stuff, but I strongly disagree here; in my opinion blocking should be a last resort for genuine harassment on comms, and ALL other forms of blocking are the equivalent of dev sponsored cheating.

Bottom line for players of all stripes--get good. Works waaaaay better than blocking.

It's odd there would be a sequel to Highlander since there can be only one. Christopher Lambert is the only real Highlander and Raiden, all others are imposters.

Ok, let's get this straight. There was never a sequel or sequels to one of the best films ever made. Any possible sequel would have to be very well written and not just a lore destroying cash grab.

If you think you remember a sequel you are mistaken, there was no sequel.

I've just been killed by a Griefer and I was sent to jail for trying to run away and breaking the speed limit outside Jameson, whilst he was ramming me?!

I've see them daily now, why do the space police not do anything about it? Are there no consequences for a griefer other than pay a fine? Is there no permanent outlaw status, where all police hunt you down after so many kills outside a space station?

I can't believe this is the way the game is intended, to have effectively immortal psychopaths running around.

Is my only option to go on a private server?

I empathise with your experience. This game can be very bewildering at times. In addition, the Crime and Punishment in the game is woeful and laughable. So yes, one must be wholly reliant on oneself, especially in Open, which is actually a good thing.

Despite its many broken mechanisms, this game does have a lot to offer. The flight model is superb and takes thousands of hours to master. If you decide to stay in Solo or a Private Group you will be "safe". However, you will never experience the full extent of the flight model. One must tax and stress one's muscles in order to grow stronger. One must also be taxed flying one's spaceship in order for one to experience the full extent of the flight model's capabilities. And the most challenging and interesting stressors in game are your fellow humans. NPCs are not in the same league by a longshot.

Right now, choose the mode that makes you happiest and have the most fun. Perhaps when you get bored with Solo or PG, Open might be more fun for you.

Since credits are now much easier to attain and if you don't mind getting blown up, there is no reason to "git gud" either. Although the main enjoyment for me in this game is improving my combat skills, it certainly does not have to be yours. Don't let anyone, including myself, tell you what to do. Be free.

This will be the key feature if Open Only Power Play is ever added. I did like the idea of the one person suggested. Take a cheap ship let it be ganked and use it to find the gility party and Players can play Open without the issue of Problem players.
