Now the cat is out of the bag, how about periodic dev diary videos/livestreams?

Good idea, can't wait for FD to implement it.

The community will love it, will give them time to start complaining about whatever direction FD is taking (even if it is the direction they wanted last month), will allow endless rabid, mindless speculation about areas that aren't fully discussed to the point that some will change their entire playing style to encompass the rumored changes.

Streams or no streams, some of that will happen none-the-less :)

Truth be told, I'm somewhat bemused about the direction FD seem to be piling their effort in, but I still be up for some dev diaries or streams periodically to give some insight from time to time ;)

Let's get more streams about FC first please. We're having troubles getting enough FC threads and if we want to hit our quotes by December then more Dev streams to stoke wild speculation on that release would be more useful. The FCTT must be fed!

Maaaate, we don't need anything more regarding FCs, they are already a self perpetuating speculation machine. I can't wait until for the day the update is released and see the following:

Complaints that the FC cost is too small as someone spent the last 6 months grinding their butt off and ended up with too much credits

Complaints that the FC cost is too large (any excuse will do)

Complaints that the FC can be owned by a single player

Complaints that the FC can only hold 16 ships

Complaints that .... well you know this community, they will complain about everything, even is it isn't a problem :D

They've leaked the future plans on purpose to build hype but without the need to commit to anything.. They wont deviate from this specifically crafted strategy they've created, even the leak said not to expect much information in the mean time.

Maybe they can leak a few dev diaries or live streams on purpose too then :)

It's not like we're short of that as it is. So nothing would really change apart from getting a glimpse of what's to come.

Did I miss anything?
Is there any "new cat" out of the bag? Or are we talking about "some old cat" ? ;)

You worry me... I remember those too - and they were a long time ago :)

Offtopic rambling.

Many years ago I took part in a (failed) search for a real one. It got run over a few years later which shut the doubters up, some nutter probably released it from a private menagerie/died and it went over the fence. Which happened quite a few times decades back before they tightened the regulations on keeping big dangerous animals in your garden.

The current theory is they've died out, however this is dependant on them having been spayed/neutered preventing breeding. Which isn't a popular thing for the sort of people who like having a dangerous animal as it reduces the dangerousness so pinch of salt, same reason some people insist on keeping deadly snakes with venom glands intact.

The forest of dean has more than enough wild boar to feed quite a few.

I want to believe.

I think he was being sarcastic :|

The truth is out there.

Instead of early teasing and hype building I'd like to have some silence followed by solid statement, content preview with bomb - it will be available live next week.

Early teasing, hype building leads to overhyped reaction when content finally arrives which in the end ends with mediocre reaction for people expected way too much due to being constantly teased about it. Anyone remember... what was the name... that game with mech suits from Bioware... (damn, can't even remember the title...) - Anthem! More than a year of teasing, hyping and when it finally arrived - woo and awe that lasted whole day. After a month barely played, few months later no one cares or remembers it.

But make a preview of new things, new features, tease people, get them hype and in the end, make Steve Jobs move, "... and one more thing", it goes live next week and people will loose their mind.

If we're going to drop any bomb I'd prefer 'the one month beta starts next week'!

The OP (and thread title) seem to assume that what has been speculated or "leaked" relates in any way to the 2020 DLC.

We'll see, in time, if it does.
