Very important message for Frontier devs

Here's another kind of open letter from another side of the community:

Thanks for the game and all your work.

I barely noticed any change with the September update, seems I was lucky with my playstyle this time.

The big blue button is a bit irritating and pushy but like side-ads on a webpage I quickly zoned it out, it's not really a big deal.
The animated & pointy throttle indicator looks cool but slightly out of place with the rest of the HUD, but I quickly zoned it out & it's not a big deal.
The 'proceed to docking bay xx' writing is smaller, as is the slow down message and 'press to disengage' is clearly stupid because it is supposed to say which key to press but if it said the key I wouldn't need that info anyway because I have thousands of hours in the game but apart from having to check my landing pad number more carefully it's not a big deal.
The targeted station icon in supercruise points the wrong way and it's difficult to see why it broke in the first place and why it wasn't a quick, easy fix, but again it's not a big deal.

But pointlessly removing features just because other people didn't want them? That's a big deal. Put the ADS back into outfitting please.
Selling a lifetime pass as an alternative to the first DLC then NOTHING for FIVE YEARS? That's a big deal. Offer unredeemed value refunds please.
Selling a game with a shared competitive environment but not coming down hard on cheating & exploiting loopholes (that are not urgently fixed as soon as they are discovered)? That's a big deal.

But the September Update, not really an issue for me, thanks FDev :)

I agree wholeheartedly with the OP (Valorin). I really love Elite: Dangerous - it's my go-to game - and I really appreciate all the hard work that goes into what I think is an awesome game. I also appreciate all the hard work the Community Managers put into updating us with information and engaging with the community.

Thanks Frontier!

As I already said here I appreciate and I respect Zac for facing a "raging" community.

But it's very important that this two way communication doesn't stop now, because when the initial fire is damped many will be able to cooperate. So I hope Zac and the Team will keep posting and replying on this argument.
Many people including myself don't agree with him and this demonstrates that FDEV and most many players are looking in two different directions. This must be corrected and it can only be fixed with proper dialogue. Showing up in the forums once in a while will not help to have a good understanding of people expecations thus it won't be possible for FDEV to manage properly these with the next game releases.
For example, from a player point of view it seems that FDEV is not following the Braben initial idea about the game. Many "promised" contents are still missing and there's no comment from FDEV about these at all since years.
Everyone, including FDEV, needs to be open minded. Zac instead of defending your position, try to ask more clarifications why people believe so (as you did somewhere). You will eventually find out that most of the critics come from misunderstanding, so a better communication and a more presence in the forum is definitely due.

But the game is broken, dead, devs don't care, Elite is on skeleton crew, steam charts, "insert selfimportant influenser rant about how hurt the community are, because they speak for all of us"

There are bugs, howee there are bugs and broken features. But on a daily play, I notice very little of it. Mostly because there has always been bugs and broken features, so I don't know anything else:rolleyes::D

And you base that assessment on...? Considering there are over 2 million copies of Elite sold.

I think "some players" would be more accurate.
If it was only a niche we wouldn't be here to talk about this, so please stop this nonsense and take part to the discussion with some more constructive idea. For example do you agree on the idea that FDEV and Community Managers should be more present in the forum to clarify players doubts and promote more activities?

I think "significant part of still active player base" would be even more accurate. Looks like it now has as many "participants" as an average CG.
