This is not true at all, Planet Coaster & Planet Zoo are very CPU heavy games. The Cobra Engine is an efficient engine which requires relatively few CPU resources. You do not need to size your build for a game like Planet Zoo (or Elite dangerous). You have more need for a decent GPU. Choosing the right GPU depends on the resolution and desired refresh rate (of your monitor).
Things that are heavy on your CPU are for instance:
Planet zoo recommended PC specs are listed here: https://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=35924&game=Planet Zoo
- Encoding/decoding encryption/decryption
- working with 3d objects
- Working with audio (realtime)
- Interference, sorting (Databases)
- calculations (Pi, Boolean surfaces, integers)
- Virus scanning, deduplication
So a quad core with 8 threads is easily enough to run the game smoothly. (Close your browsers; they can be a resource hog)
Hope this Helps!

Nah, just don't want someone being told bad information when they're building a computer. CPU is very important for this game & telling them it's not is not helpful nor is pointing to system requirements and saying, "See? a 6 year old processor is fine!" as if that helps your argument or helps this person looking for a really good CPU.Some keyboard warrior you are...
FD must be wrong in their recommendation and hire you.

Does my computer meet the minimum requirements to run Planet Coaster?
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Below you can find the minimum and recommended system requirements for Planet Coaster. MINIMUM: OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (64-bit) or more recent (8.1, 10). Processor: Intel...support.frontier.co.uk
The mentioned Intel CPU was released in 2013. That is SIX years ago
I'd recommend a i5 as minimum.
I have a i5-6500 + GTX1050ti and the game works like a charm (Planco as well).
Got almost the same and also have no problems with Planco or Planzoo only i have the i5-7400
How big do your parks get till you start to notice some issues with lag?
In Planco i start to notice heavier lag when my Parks get above 10000 guests as it's the guests that causes the drop in FPS and causing lag.if I like set the max to 8000 guests then i can make the park as big as the maps allow and still play without lag. Also i have 24 GB of memory ram no idea if that plays a role in Planco but i did noticea difference because i started out with only 8 GB on this PC but after the upgrade to 24 i saw a huge improvement.
