Elite / Frontier Favourite Frontier: Elite II ship

What is your favourite Frontier: Elite II ship?

first design,
i love the courier (obviously), but the low range makes it unuseful for assasination and when accepting more then one bombing or recon mission (usually i take three of them at once).

second specs,
in very beginning and for a long time the ASP was the absolute favorite of mine,
range, fuelscoop and at least one missile for bombing, but exactly one missile is a bit low for such.
later i switched to the Constrictor which is imo the best multipurposal ship and offers some nice designs to shiphull. i do like my tanned Constrictor with the "teeth" in front, looks agressive. the Cobra MKIII is a real good ship, sadly it comes allways grey, grey, grey, that's boring, that's why i like the MKI better.

for a long time on CD32 (FE2) i used a Tiger Trader, his capacity is in good relation to (a little low) range, thrusters are somewhat weak and the reason why it's not a ship useful for bountyhunting.
but if you like to get a life as "digger", it's your ship!

i voted for the adder to, in beginning i thought it's a weak ship, but as soon as you got experienced adders or sidewinders are famous in hunting, you won't miss one deadline. personally for a adder i prefer a black one (except for pioneer, i bought me a gold/grey one, but well it's my own model so...)

after all the Constrictor

btw, some comparisons

something you can't see in a still, the "fog" inside the blue glow is moving.
(i guess i shouldn't feel so low about my capabilities, god this ship looks GOOD! no, not good, realistic)

I usually go quite big. I often use Imperial Couriers or Traders... Mostly because this was my favourite ships when I was young... They were my favourite ships because of their looks :)

But I also like the Anaconda fitted with a class 7 drive. That will give you a descent jump range (12.25 ly)... ... together with some nice laser and other essentials it is a good fighting ship. And if you want to make some money you can always refit it with the standard engine and you got a lot of bulk to fill up.

When going for the smaller ships I usually go for a Constrictor with a class 3 military drive. Good range (15 ly) and enough room to fit the most essential stuff for military missions.

When I need really long range (Military missions on critical low time and similar) I from time to time rely in the Adder or Viper with class 3 military drives (will give you 32.75 and 27.69 ly respectively). I've also tried the gecko for this. But it's a little bit to small if you put a class 3 military drive in it.

For challenging and fun dog-fighting I like Adders. Plus I always feel like a drug smuggler when I am in an Adder. For missions Courier or Asp, or Cobra III. I also like the Cobra I for some reason.
General favourite though. Cobra III.

My favorite is not on the 10list

I would very much like to put myself into a Harris Fighter. That was my favorite in e2F and e3Fe
Since Harris Fighter is not on the list I can not vote.

SO, I have used them all and if you have not sat in a Harris Fighter , you have lost a lot :)

Favorite ship for looks was Imperial Trader, trader was of course the Panther clipper, nothing like the big number at the front of my credit balance change with just 1 traderun :D.

I definitely used a Cobra III by far the most..
But I've got fond memories of the Panther Clipper heheh.. I remember it look me a long time to save up enough cash to buy one, then I sat at some planetary base waiting forever to hire enough crew to even take off..
When I finally had the crew and formidable amount of cargo I tried to launch which resulted in an instant explosion..
I also remember having a friend with me when I was trying to dock the clipper in a space station for the first time.
My friend says "what is that noise!?".. my response is "pffft - probably sucked some thargoids into the exhaust or something... no wait - it's my HULL!! noooooooooooo!!"

Ahh yes.. the Panther Clipper.. She was a biggun' ;)

Favourite ships:
Fighter - viper, the powerful thrusters make it very manoverable and fun to fly.
Asp Explorer is good fun but small internal volume.
Tiger trader is good fun for being a "rogue trader" but not fast enough for most military missions, it's the smallest ship you can load up with goodies (hull autorepair etc) although if you uprate the drive it gets a bit small, thrusters aren't really powerful enough though.
Puma and Panther clippers with good drives, lots of shields can be made into almost invincible battleships!
Would do the same with a boa, but when ever I fire the turret on the ventral view I just shoot myself!

Miss the cobra III though!

If I'm wanting to head for dangerous systems, then I tend to load up a Panther clipper - a few shield generators and full set of turrets and the pirates fall quickly while you don't even have to slow down. Hell, at the end of each trip you'll be having the ground crew cleaning the squashed Eagles & Adders that weren't smart enough to get outta your way from the windscreen...

For actual dogfighting though, I do prefer the Viper for some reason. Viper Mk2 in FFE.

I concur whole heartily. I cannot wait to see if the Panther makes the cut this time and what it will look like. I loved the articulated engines for vertical take off.

Sidewinder every time. That fuel scoop ability, useful speed and good range add up to a potent little ship in the right hands. Who needs missiles? ;)

Sidewinder is definitely an excellent ship I have to say I am going to be quite boring here and also say that I LOVE my Cobra Mk III. I also like the Viper Defence craft and the the Asp..... very nice.

Unfortuantely as I started a new game on the Amiga I need to start all over and I am STILL doing the milk run between Sol and Barnadard's just to get rid of that crap first ship of mine the Eagle arrgghhh.....

Imperial Courier was my chosen ship quick enough to out flank opponents & armed with best weaponry a formidible foe against most. I used it mainly as a bounty hunter/assassin, & look forward to engaging in this role again.

"Frontier: Elite II" ships only

The Harris Fighter first appeared in "Frontier: First Encounters", they were never in "Frontier: Elite II", which this poll is about.

Viper, class 3 military drive, 5MW pulse laser. Sharp shooting small time trader, imperial officer. Single Shield added for assassinations so I don't get toasted by an energy bomb. Takes a lot of hits to take out a well shielded Tiger or Panther.

Just enough room take on the occasional high paying passenger when no other good jobs are going. This thing is so fast that whoever is after your passenger usually won't catch up with you until after you have dropped them off.
