[Video] Open letter from community to Elite Dangerous

Well, you like asking people to find quotes. Why don't you this time go dig out some of the posts from the developers saying they are aware of an issue and will be addressing it, for example? Or maybe some of Sandro's old posts or videos about Powerplay?

:D S

Not sure how that makes an opinion the communities opinion, mind you, that condition of yours depends on the agreement FD has with that opinion.

Why would it? It is not the community's opinion. Nor is it the community's opinion that some are trying to get signatures for a petition about.

There are elements we can probably all agree about (bugs are bad, mkay). That doesn't make the rest of the demands the community's wishes.

Well then how do you generalize the opinion of a subset of the community* to all of the community?

*Which you don't know if it is a majority or not.

No, stop trolling. They ruined exploration and from what i hear mining is boring as hell. Thats ok mining is boring as hell in all games but what was done to exploration was right out of order. They could have let people have the choice aswell but no they had to force feed something terrible to everybody even going round stealing away the old modules. It ruined the game for me and im not alone in that so please dont refer to that as an upgrade.

The FSS is great, just because you don't like it doesn't mean its a bad thing. Mining's also good fun, if you ever get over the shock of the FSS you should give it a bash.

How the heck did you get that conclusion? he says "We were planning to close some servers in protest, but decided to scrap that part of the plan. OA might not be aware of that old version" How is that nefarious? If they didn't change the content of the letter after OA threw his support behind it, what could you possibly construe as bad?
To me, if I were FD (which I'm not), that sounds like "We were going to shut down our discords to teach you, but you called our bluff and we backed down because we knew it would hurt us more and we never really intended it in the first place." Of course, I could be wrong about that, but it always gives me a giggle when bullies fail and have to back down.

That's actually why you generalise it. It doesn't matter how many members of the community were behind or part of whatever ideas and communication influenced FDEV to implement certain changes. We all are influenced by it in the end. I just wonder why some think their opinions should matter more.

What give mining a bash? Its ok :) For some reason i find flying my ship around more interesting than standing still doing fiddly things, so if i want credits i would sothis run. There is no point taking the FSS exploring cause i find it completely unenjoyable. It needs somebody to design an aimbot for it.

That makes no sense, just because the opinion of someone influences you doesn't make that opinion yours. You are once more making an erroneus and arbitrary condition for what is the community's opinion, goes to show the hypocrisy.

There's a cryptic comment in the same exchange about future plans and an imposed timeline as well, just trying to sound tough I think.

FDEV did right to call their pathetic bluff.

If Fdev is planning on making buildings and bases they could do worse than go and play a heavily modded fallout4. Learn about how players want to design and decorate their bits and pieces. The base game building is totally barebones compared to what the modders made it.

How did this become something about the community's opinion? And what does it have to do with my opinion? Not sure you understand what we are talking about here.

It is actually really simple: Some among us here decided they speak enough for our community that they could make a petition for FDEV to release information as well as involve them in the game testing process more than is currently happening. Others disagree with the wording and the thinly veiled threats in that petition, without necessarily disagreeing that there are bugs delivered with the latest update(s) that could have been squashed quicker.

I'd go easy on the theorycrafting there old chum, half these salty petitioneers are mad because their personal imaginary version of the game never happened. Believe FDEV content announcements not some random forumites wishful thinking.

You have an actual thing that you really dislike about the game, I disagree with you but I can understand it at least.

You mean the players that mod. Are they a representative selection of the Fallout 4 community in general? Personally I wandered away from that series when those base-building aspects took hold. It ruined other games I found fun too, such as World of Warcraft.

Is online any good?

Also not to self: Complete RDR 1 and 2.
To be honest, I think I'm going back to finishing the single-player story. The world in story mode seems much more alive and immersive than it does in "MMO" mode. My wife likes online mode because she gets to be a "she" and just focus on looking for collectibles. But me, I actually kinda like being Arthur Morgan.

I also think online mode takes a pretty significant graphics hit compared to story mode, unless the entire game has been nerfed graphically in recent updates. Speaking of, my big dilemma now is whether to finish the story on PS4 or wait for RDR2 on PC. Maybe I should go back to playing modded Skyrim instead!

ps - RDO has griefers

No i mean people that make free mods for everybody to use. As in mod nexus. Google and have a look. The point was that you can lose hours to base building, if its done right people would be very happy but if they just dropped some barebones things it would be a missed oppurtunity. Just my random thought :)

It's a nice random thought. It just seem to have made a post-apocalyptic survival RPG (feel free to correct me, I never actually got past Fallout 3) into a base building game. I prefer the survival RPG aspects. Just as I prefer the Star Trekky space flight simulation aspects of Elite to many of the suggestions of what could be added to it. Personal opinion of course!

That's got nothing to do with what you originally said, you're lost.

Yes its true, but really fallout4 is a first person shooter. You run round shoot some stuff and then maybe you feel like building and you got what is basicly a lego kit. So you add some mods to remove various restrictions and suddenly you can build anywhere and add an almost unlimited amout of new building items for free. Suddenly you got all these small items, like i dunno coffee cups or whatever, but the level of detail you can build goes up. Check out for eg https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4270/? So if they are going to do it dont half arx it, add that level of detail. If we assume there is base building what i expect it would be about the same level as subnautica, that wouldnt really be that impressive.
