[Video] Open letter from community to Elite Dangerous

Servers back up after the mission board and passenger fix, fourth hotfix since the patch ?.

This must somehow prove they don't listen or care about the game.

Exactly. A good company would check this out before release, but hey - average seems to be good enough for you, hm? It´s ok, man - no problem - but don´t bother the guys that think that there should be some quality work out there.

Oh - and please Brexit soon.

I never said it wasn't on the road map, I said it wasn't found in the original promo video, which in my eyes is this:

Seems like a really pedantic and pointless distinction, as "the original vision promoted by video" doesn't necessarily refer to any one specific video. They did indeed release videos during that era where they talked about lace spegs.

Why not think of what's happening now as a beta test with player involvement, two problems combined into one solution to part of the petition. Stick a bit of masking tape on the top of your monitor with BETA written on it for extra imursion.

Brexit's getting pushed back again this time by Bojo, he's confirmed it in papers submitted to the courts :D(y).

Call it what you will. That video came to mind when the guy I quoted asked. If you find something else, I'm all ears.

Just to add my two cents I agree completely with the points Yamiks brought up. I've repeatedly pointed out in the past how having test servers would be beneficial, and how even having a cut-down version of the galaxy to test out new patches would be helpful.

I think what folks are referring to is this:

edit: wrong quote sorry Ambrosa

Always read the small print :

Lol that trailer....... It created quite the "storm" back in the day. It looks an interesting game but it isn't elite dangerous ;)

Wasn't there some comedy video comparison where someone replicated the joystick movements in game and got all sniffy it was a bit different ?.

This is from the kickstarter FAQ, it puts space-feet firmly in the future potential DLC bracket :

Can I leave the space ship?
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1461411552/elite-dangerous/faqs#project_faq_44086
Yes, but not in the initial release. The core release of the game focusses on the ships and space. We'll then be working to expand the game. This includes exploring your ship and space stations. The potential content for Elite is huge,so we're keeping a sensible strategy to add to the game in stages.
As I've explained to people on this forum before, who refuse to believe the truth (not saying that's you Stigbob, I'm just quoting you because you cite the FAQ) The FAQ are not kickstarter promises, only the pledge tiers are. Not what is said in any pitch video, advert, dev diary or game trailer. Only the pledge tiers.

There is a lot of combat in the game, the squadron I'm in have been in several wars for BGS reasons in the recent past (which was great fun!) there is plenty of Bounty Hunting to be grabbed... The marketing isn't incorrect!

Of course, if one only interprets the marketing as PvP combat then disappointment is sure to follow as the requirements to be 'in the crowd' are going to take a lot of one's time before joining in :)

PvP is combat, you don't need to interpret the marketing as PvP only.

Frontier has a long proven history of starting with a sound mechanical concept, flopping out a poorly realized release and then ultimately abandoning further development of the piece in question because "no one is really using it." It's one of the reasons I stopped subscribing to the hype train a long time ago.

It's a feedback loop:

1º FD releases a feature in a bad state.
2º The players test the feature and then stop using it because of its bad state.
3º FD doesn't fix and/or improve the feature because players don't use that feature.

I'll let anyone guess what's more likely, that many players use a feature they dislike in hopes of an improvement or that FD improves the feature and then players use it.
