Going the Distance.

Well, I guess im really doing it.

I will be cirumnavigating biggest landable planet we have found so far. It is a 25 thousand kilometer trip, and im doing it all in the SRV.

The planet is in the system EOL PROU HR-U D3-2494, body 3. It is a bright icy planet with lots of small mountains, and large craters dotted around it's surface. Being so big, it does have some pull, 3.84g of gravity, so grip wont be a problem, but getting any height and going up hills will be. The maximum slope you can drive up without stopping is 13 degrees, so any tall mountains will need a detour.

Ive made about 200km so far, only 25 thousand more to go.

I will be giving updates any time I make some progress, and will also be taking pictures to document my journey.

It'll be a long trip, it will be hard not to leave at some point, but even though I've only been at it for 200km, it already feels like home.

Good luck Rick. With almost 4 G's you wont doing much flyving, wheels on the ground all the way. If you can manage 100 KPH then it will only take you 250 hours of driving. I will be checking here often as I love circumnavigating planets myself but never attempted one with that many G's. you doing north/south or equilateral or some other path?

I am out in the black exploring but if the planet isn't too far away and you on PC I may drop in can tag along for a few hours, Won't be for a week or so though.

In other, unrelated news, I'm taking a Beluga to that planet to body-slam an SRV in an act of poetic tragedy.
Im 22k ly away from the bubble, that should give me some time to prepare ;)

Yes, north-south for me ! Its easier that way.

I met this craz... brave person earlier and we drove together for a bit. It's always fun to floor it on these high G planets.
