Do players still get the entire pack of paint jobs with a purchase? If not then paint jobs just went up about 6 fold.

Finally, the absolute price (i.e. not relative to what it was) for skins is just fine. It’s the cost of a cup of coffee at Starbucks but rather than getting one each morning on the way to work you buy only a couple of skins ever.

The difference with a cup of coffee is that the price incorporates a whole host of material costs implied by the harvesting, transportation and delivery of a finite real-world resource. Let’s be clear, game extras have always been the perfect hustle, and the effort-reward ratio is way off by any reasonable measure. Let’s take Elite’s engine and weapon styling for example – that requires near zero effort – it’s literally switching 3 numbers representing the RGB colours in the code, but they’ve managed to package it as an infinite commodity limited only by the size of the player base. The difference between the currently available tactical paint jobs and the A.W.O.L ice/charcoal ones is the same as far as I can tell (3 little numbers in the code). When prices are inflated by the desirability of a real world item it’s traditionally a result of a finite supply (FD have artificially recreated this in the case of the Black Friday paint jobs), but you can change RGB values from red to white an infinite number of times. How long would it take a competent 3D artist to create a ship kit and what are the potential profits? We need to take a broader view when assessing the value of these things, and whether or not we're being "played".

Not at all.

Angry GRR! thread people either jump on board the hate train or try to derail it. There's currently far more Mexican bandits than guards and passengers.
I'm far from happy with the current state of the game (more due to the technical state of it as opposed to Arx - although it seems the former is at least in part caused by the latter - this weekend in particular was a pretty rough experience for me) but think the OP deserved some of that stick due to his poor reasoning and examples.

I would hope for the 6450 arx 'paid' for that Earth bobblehead, the damn thing would ACTUALLY rotate in the CORRECT direction!!!!

My Planet set pack that I bought a couple of years ago, the Earth still rotates the wrong way!
Interesting question. My Bobble earth appears to rotate west to east as I look at it, from effectively the sun's position.
So if I was on the bobble earth's surface the sun would go in the opposite direction, ie from east to west.
On the actual earth the sun does appear to go east to west. So my bobble earth seems to go the right way for me.

So does yours go the other way , or am I wrong ?

(I'm going to post this before I get a headache)

I'm more worried about threads where 90% of the activity seems to involve poking the OP with pointy sticks, metaphorically speaking.
True. We are all victims of causality though. Usually I only see it happen when a handbag is being flinged around in the first post.

You clearly don't understand the problem here.
Actually I do understand “the problem”, the cost for cosmetic items has gone up. Complainers feel like FDev is ripping them off OR they are so concerned about the logical fact that the ARX issue will result in less overall income for Fdev. Regardless of which it is, I still don’t understand why people are getting upset over something that a) doesn’t affect gameplay, b) is entirely optional, and c) is essentially only vanity items.

What difference does it make to us? If less people buy these vanity items then that’s on Fdev. It doesn’t affect us directly.

All this angst against FDev trying to generate new revenue streams, just enjoy the game (which plays the same regardless of store items). If Fdev sees it results in a i overall drop in revenue then they’ll make changes. They’re smart, they want and need Elite to be successful.

without wanting to bring in controversy or criticize you, just one thing, in your statement you put something unreal .... the exact prices of painting are between 620, and 3250(between half pound and 2 pounds)

there is not a single painting that is worth more than that ... 620 does not reach half a pound, in between there are those of 1250arx (less than 1 pound) .... 3250 are about 2 euros / 2 pounds ... information you have been given is not correct.

and by the way, shipping kits are like 2 pounds cheaper now,and you also receive 400arx free every week and you don't have to buy packs of 6 paintings that you will never use.

I hope I helped you

Slight correction. You do not get 400 free per week. You can 'earn' 400 per week by playing in the style frontier force on you. Anything else and you do not get the arx.

An another question.. As a long time creator of flight sim liveries, I'm really left in awe at their paint prices. I can knock out a paint job in 320 minutes. Anyone could do it once they know the tools. Anyone buying paint jobs is basically being ridden like well worn donkey.

Look on the Brightside, its confirmation the majority of players (in the forum) are happy with the game.

Any metrics to back that up? I would personally say it's 50/50 just by judging the posts. The original poster is correct tho.. There are definitely a few defenders of Frontier no matter. what frontier do. Then there's the few who get invites for cookies at frontier HQ and thens pend the rest of their waking hours attempting to ridicule and demean anyone that posts something negative. And of course, when that fails, moderators step in with sticks to usurp any uprising, regardless of merit.

Even if the value for money went down (which it prolly did), in the past I had to buy the hole pack while I usually wanted one. Now I can buy just the skin I want.
If I ever will in the future, I haven't bought much after they gave away the black friday pack 3 years back.

Anyway, its ultimately value for vs actual costs. Take your pick.
